It takes an impressively large amount of training for a professional wrestler to raise the bar to the level in which is coincided as “main event” status. Of course it is true what they say, many a wrestler whom is now conceded as just an opening wrestler or jobber actually has the wrestling skills to be a main eventer. Of course there are always reasons why certain wrestlers tend to advance higher up the card than others; the basic reasons for such a push tend to fall into one of three categories.
Money. The basic reason why many a man has moved to the top despite the obvious lack of talent, money can buy everything. Money is the greed of men in the times of today, not a single promoter would look past a man whom happens to have money on his side which he can invest in the business. Money in which shall reduce the promotion in needing to secure and pay for his accommodation, money as said which can be invested in merchandise sales advertisement… the list just continues. But of course just the image of a wealthy man wrestling in your organization can improve your ratings, whether it means he creates a promo buying stocks on the market or simply comes out to the ring waving a one hundred dollar bill through the air, just being their will improve sales and ratings by a large percentage.
Connections. Of course then comes the men whom jump the queue due to connections, every man in the business knows whom I talk of. Those wrestlers whom happen to marry a cousin of the promoter, or are lucky to lay claim for helping the promoter to win a championship in years already past. These are then men who bring such things up at the point of signing a contract, just slight things that will trigger the promoter into believing that they are the right man of headlining the show. Of course once again these are not the most entertaining of men, soon the highlight that their connections had gotten them will shortly fade, soon they shall look back at what they had missed the chance to achieve in their careers. The lack of talent these men have once more shall dwindle out until they find themselves being booed from arena to arena around the world with know fan wanting a bar of their action.
Past Accomplishments. The men whom come to the company and instantly get pushed to the top over many a wrestler who had already been crawling their way up, these pushes are based on the passed accomplishments in which a wrestler is said to of held years ago. As many promoter will soon find out after making such a choice, many wrestlers based in these situations either crumble under the pressure due to having been out of action for quit some time or their accomplishment they had supposedly achieved were completely fictional. The finalization of such a thing is of course a poor level of entertainment, if you have the unfortunate luck to bare witness to such a match you will be able to see that such wrestlers will not raise the bar and expectation of that which you need in a main event match.
But then of course the other wrestlers who can not rely on such categories of leverage towards a promoter may only drivel into the mass of wrestlers that just claw at the feet of the more dominant. Of course there are a select few that have what it takes to stick with the profession and continue to raise their game for the chance to get noticed by anyone, these select few are the ones who train and continue to take the matches which they are dealt with time and time again, These are the men which through hardship and molding create the perfect entertainers to secure themselves the main event.
They start as openers, debuting in the promotion on their first card in a tag team or match which involves a large group of individuals, all new to the company and at what was thought as being at the same level. From here it seems that a certain few shall tend to shine out from the others, those select men shall have the opportunity to move on into the singles competition seen allowing more variety and originality to be performed in their matches. Of course eventually and after vigorous training it seems that the promoter shall open his eyes to the potential in which these new men may have, this is when these men will get the opportunity to entertain and fight for one of the few prizes which mark the very best of the promotion. Of course none are actually thought to be able to win, but a select few may have trained just that much more to secure the prize in which is up for stakes…surprising all they capture it.
With the field of men now narrowed down they move on into the scene of mid carders and as if moving backwards they are told to re-enter the tag team division. But of course as an incentive the now mid-carders are tempted by the lure of Tag Team Championships. With their greed on fire the men now seek out another to join together to compete and learn from each other as they compete in tag team action. Learning from another they soon find themselves winning tag team matches and fans appreciation or hatred around the arenas, soon the glimmer of Tag Team Championships can be seen glowing from their wastes. No team shall last, eventually the team will be forced to split as both individuals shall be going their separate ways.
From here there is now only one obstacle in which is needed to overcome if the once new-comer to the promotion wishes to reach the top, such an achievement is called the World Heavyweight Championship or the Championship of the promotion. These such belts are achieved by only the best, the men whom work longer hours and train at a harder pace. After weeks nor months of preparations in singles and tag team competition these men whom were once debut wrestlers are now ready to make their chance at greatness and immortality.
The camera fades into a scene almost devoured in the color of a dark brown, the only exception of this single color would be the large letter X which had been placed in the center of the camera shot. The letters of the red tape which makes up the X peels at the end telling the history of where many a man had just pushed the tape back down instead of ensuring replacement. The camera lens blurs as a fast paced cream color starts to impact into the surface of the shot, every time connecting a loud thud would ricochet and echo around what must be a awfully large room, the camera zooms out from what is now evident to be a large boxing bag descending from the ceiling by a rusty orange chain.
The wrestler know as Macros continues his onslaught of fists to connect with the bag, the dirt and grim from the bag starts to stain his white taped fist on contact. The wrestler continues his onslaught of two to three punches per second, his breathing remaining calm and relaxed as he remains in control. For this wrestler knows that every week he is and has been checking of every box on the list to secure his main event status.
Just last week he had made his debut in the Power On Wrestling in a tag team match, not surprising to all he came out victorious. So it was that this wrestler had shone on that night, claiming the victory for his team after hitting Dan Real with the Legion Crusher and collecting the three count. Now it seems that Macros is able to secure himself another accomplishment as he enter singles competition at the first DVD Taping for POW, First Rights. In just his first singles competition match he is scheduled to wrestle for the achievement of being entered into the number one contendership match at the March 10th addition of The Road to All In. The final destination on the road in which this opportunity is taking the wrestler is of course the Valor Championship, a stepping stone to that championship which the POW calls its holy grail.
It seems that this wrestler is moving along the checklist to the holy grail of Power On Wrestling at an impressive rate, mere hours ago it was also confirmed that he would be wrestling in the tag team tournament leading up to All In along side the famous and popular masked ninja, Reck Maverick. Such a grand month this wrestler happens to have laid before his feet, ticking of the chance to win both Valor Championship and Tag Team Championship gold leaving but one milestone to rise towards. Once both events are written into history it is evitable that this wrestler will soon be moving on to compete for the holy grail of Power On Wrestling, such an holy grail which can only be the beauty and honorability of holding the POW World Championship.
James Gagne: You got to keep those strikes up Macros, no dog pea’s on a moving car.
As Macros increases his punch rate after slowing down the camera swivels to the source of the voice, James Gagne the Head Trainer for the POW and a legend in his own rights. Gagne striking facial features are completely devoted to watching every inch of the wrestler who had come for his aid in training today. The man had wanted to increase his speed, something which Gagne was not a man who had the specialty of such a trade…but of course if it was one thing Gagne new about training, as long as something hurt at the end of the day then the training had been effective.
Optiman: Move your feet more…dude.
Gagne looks at the man sitting in the seat next to him who reacts with a casual potato chip filled smile before plunging his hand back into the bag of potato chips and retrieving the last remanding crumbs which inconveniently always seem to find their way into the corner of the bag. Unlike this man it was evident to Gagne that the wrestler training today was one whom could make a career for himself here in the POW, for any man to say such a thing was meaningless but for the legendary Gagne to think such things defiantly proves the statement to be the truth. As Gagne watches the fists of the wrestler impact with the bag memories of his own career fade back into his brain. As he follows the droplets of sweat dribbling from the mans temples the feelings from the arenas in which Gagne had spill both blood, tears and sweat around the country flows into his heart.
Watching the wrestler work hard to impress him was the turning point for Gagne, no longer was he seeing a wrestler whom needed to improve. Gagne could now see the fire ignite in his eyes, the look and lust to learn and soak in the training needed for victory. The compete look of insanity and focus from his face as all he aims to do is improve his performance with each and every strike of the bag, yes this was the moment in which Gagne decided that finally their came a wrestler whom was worthy of his training.
James Gagne: Alright your done for the day, after all I believe your arms will feel like rubber by now.
Macros lowers his fighting pose as he turns to the trainer.
Optiman: Wait…just a minutes *swallows remainder of potato chips*, I’m the trainer of Macros here and there is no way he is leaving this room until I see him perform a perfect roundhouse kicks which even impress m, the 2001 Australian Kickboxing Champion.
Optiman nods his head as he points to the bag, Macros looks at him with a defiant frown across his face, Slowly he turns his back on his trainer of the past and moves on to the future and out of the doors of the training facility and heading to First Rights.
