The slicing sound of the head being severed from a mans body roars as Macros throws his blade through the air, the thud of a carcass impacting with the soil soon follows. Macros flicks the oily hair from his eyes as he surveys the bloody battlefield, roman soldiers are all that surround him…exhausted and leaning against their comrades or shoving the tip of their sword into the chest of a struggling barbarian. Macros looks at his blood covered sword as the droplets dribble down to the tip and gradually drop to the soil, he clenches the hilt before thrusting it into the air.
Macros: Roman Victorious!!!
The legions of roman soldiers under the total command of the general, raise their arms or swords into the air screaming the last of their energy into the chant of victory. Macros drops his sword from his grasp in exhaustion as he turns his back on the battlefield and to the smoke from the campfires in preparation over the hill, the officer and second of command pushes himself through the mass of the fallen to come to the side of the general.
Officer: A costly victory, many men have died from the first legion…the Caesar shunt be happy.
Macros: Such loss of lives are unrecognized in the eyes of the empire, do you truly believe that the Caesar himself will be upset from the loss of mere soldiers.
Officer: The loss of those soldiers could mean the loss of a legion, that will not sit well with the Caesar.
Macros: ha-ha, though you may of grown to the rank of officer and second in command at quick pace…do not judge my knowledge. Unlike yourself I did not buy my way into high status of the legion due to my name, I was once a mere soldier as all these men. I have seen many a good man die just to secure a foot step of land for the empire, are their lives mourned by any other than theirs families I ask you? No, as many as men die there are more women in Rome to spit out enough young to supply the army. Caesar does not mind nether does your fat father sitting on his ass in the republic council.
The Officer gets a disgusted look on his face before flexing his right arm to prepare to strike his general, Macros on the other hand is miles in front and quick to hit the officer with a swift elbow to the guts sending him to his knees where Macros throws his leather boots deep into his groin. The slight amount of fighting quickly draws the attention of hundreds of men surrounding the two on the deadly calm battlefield, Macros looks at the crumbled heap which is the officer to the very soldiers in discussion looking on at the two, Macros new that he now had to explain his actions.
Macros: My word is not to be judged, I do not care wheather you are a signal boy or the son of the republican and scholar Sextus Caecilius Africanus…until the day in which you yourself raise to the point of achieving the class of general you shall not question me. Until the day in which you retire from the legion and return to your homes and the bitch you call a wife, you shall not question me. Each and every one of you I treat with respect, such a thing in which little an officer nor general would do…when you question my actions you lose my respect and allegiance.
This officer here, Papus Africanus, had the nerve to question my word. This man added to such a sin as to raise his hand in aggravation towards his general, such a thing would of cost him his life under the supervision of another general or the case in which he was not a soldier. No man, whether you have the connections or not, has the right to raise his hand at me. On this battlefield I am Caesar. Let this day stand as a example to the future, the next whom shall have the nerve to repeat what we have seen today will be soon without a head connecting to their shoulders.
A murmur of agreement flows through the legions as they turn from the general and begin to make their way back to the camp, Macros turns his back on the men before deciding to yell out some orders.
Macros: Every man from the first legion under the command of Papus Africanus is now ordered to collect the dead of the legion and burry them accordingly. If you happen to be upset by such an order I give you full orders to take such a wrath out on your officer whom has put you in such a position due to his actions. Every other soldier is free to make his night at camp, all are free until morning.
Macros walks passed the officer whom still holds his groin as he makes his way back to his campsite and the hope of getting clean. Slowly he walks through the hills, step by step towards his destination. The screams of pain from a loan soldier takes the attention of Macros as the soldier is performing surgery on the arrow sticking out from his leg.
As the man screams we come back to the reality with the POW camera turning on in the locker rooms of the wrestling location of last weeks Road to First Rights. The cheers and screams from the crowd viewing the main event echoes towards the locker rooms where the sounds mix into the air creating an almost perfect melody to the ears of an sports entertainer. Floating on the air also is that delicious aroma of food from the canteens, the purpose of which is to entice the customers towards it as their brains struggle with the decision of staying and watching the wrestling or taking that moment of time to pleasure their watering taste buds buy making that short trip. But as it was even with the noise of the crowd and the aroma in the air not even a whisper could be heard through the locker room, the locker room was designed in the manner you would usually see around the world simply consisting of a steel locker and a couple of steel chairs. The only out of place objects were a pair of medium sized bath tubs towards the back of the room and a long table sitting in the middle room, designed out of a dark wood it stood at waist height and the surface was covered with a long cushion pillow. Spread across the table is a body, still and lifeless with its head staring blankly towards the ceiling.
The camera and POW interviewer Greg Kilgreen moves towards the table rotating the angle of the frame so we can now see the body from a birds eyes view. The body laying on the table is none other than Macros and to everyone’s relief it seems that he is breathing slightly after all, still dressed in his wrestling attire adorned with patch’s of sweat he lays with the calf muscle of his right leg covered with a bag of ice covered in a towel pushing up against his skin. So it seemed that the shots from Dave Hunter and Dan Real had taken a certain toll on the body of Macros, but of course after taking repetitive shots to a single leg would create some forms of harm towards your body. The camera zooms in on the face of Macros, who continues to stare at the ceiling almost in a world of his own, before scaling down towards the back of his calf to be greeted with the dark purple colors of bruising. The camera continues to film the bruising around his leg even as the door to the locker room opens up and Riley walk through with a bag of ice under his left arm making his way towards Macros eventually pushing the cameraman from his way.
Riley: What do ya guys think ya doing just barging in here when its obvious that my client needs his time to rejuvenate. Macros ya need to get up now, it’s time for our rejuvenation process.
Macros blinks his eyes before raising his body up into a sitting position slowly moving his leg in circles feeling the tension running through his nerves. Riley moves towards the two bath tubs and opens the bag of ice dumping it into one of the tubs where it joins the contents of several before it, before moving to the other and starting to fill it with a flow of warm/hot water. Macros stands to his feet running his hand across his facial hair as he makes his way limping towards the tubs, he comes to the first tub and runs his hand through the icy water before lifting his leg over the edge and with one quick motion jumps into the tub throwing icy water across the floor.
Greg Kilgreen: Well Riley it so happens to be my job to come backstage and get some interviews, you know ask the questions get the answers that everyone wants to hear. Anyway you clearly stated that you wanted some interview time.
Riley: Well ya can just come back some other time, I mean my client and myself are quit busy at the moment.
Riley turns off the taps to the second bath and runs his hand through the water checking the temperature.
Greg Kilgreen: Well I would love to leave Riley, but both you and I are quit well aware that Mr. Capaci does not like people who waist time. I mean, I am new to the wrestling industry, but if I was the boss I know I would be upset if a organized interview was turned down at the last minute wasting time which could have been used by other wrestlers in the promotion.
Greg Kilgreen smiles as the hand of the manager running through the water stops dead as he processes the last statement, the ripples in the water fade away as the manager comes to terms on the finalization that he had just been out-smarted by an interviewer. Riley removes a folded handkerchief from his jacket pocket, removing his hand from the water he proceeds to dry his hand as he stares at the interviewer. The trademark look of disgust dawns across the mans face.
Riley: Well we are quit an expert of all things in the Power On Wrestling organization aren’t we. Yes you are right, I suppose Tito Capaci would be upset at the loss of money mere minutes of interview time would cost his pockets. So…what are ya waiting for son, get that camera rolling and ya microphone out and start this interview.
Greg Kilgreen flicks out his microphone with the POW logo printed on the side, he clicks his fingers at the cameraman who now focus’ the camera on the two instead of recording the room.
Greg Kilgreen: Firstly you yourself Riley are well known to manage more than one superstar, for a fact you were managing the former POW wrestler Mark Optiman. Now Mark Optiman was forced, for some unknown reason, to cancel his contract with the Power On Wrestling within the first week of the Road to First Rights. The fans are asking the question Riley. Will Optiman be back in the POW?
Riley: Optiman…that guys got problems in his life that he needs to work out, being unemployed is just one thing. Haha, no just kidding ya there. The last I heard of Optiman he was leaving due to family problems, now I understand his singles contract that was established between him and Tito Capaci was terminated along with his exit.
Greg Kilgreen: That exactly means what?
Riley: Well ya just have to think about it, Im not going to spell it out for you. The singles contract in which Optiman signed is said to be terminated, but the Tag Team contract seems to still be in effect…meaning that the wrestler known as Mark Optiman is full in his rights to compete in tag team action.
Greg Kilgreen: Well in that case it has now been said that Tito Capaci is going to be announcing a Tag Team Tournament coming around the corner. Could we possibly see Optiman return for a Tag Team Tournament and the chance to capture the Tag Team Championships?
Riley: Well I can not answer such a question for ya Greg, personally I am leaving Optiman to find his own partner if he wishes to enter. Currently I am in the managerial services of my client Macros Vitruvious, whom happens to be thinking of entering the Tag Team Tournament himself. Shortly I will be looking for a partner to wrestler along side my client, perhaps if there is a slight chance in which my client cant find a partner I shall turn to Optiman. As of now I shall still turn to Optiman for training for my client, If he wishes to make his debut in the Tag Team Tournament then I shall wish him luck. As I have already wished him luck with his life and future endeavors.
Riley whip the handkerchief through the air as if brushing aside the topic, he neatly folds the fabric up before placing it centered in his jacket pocket.
Greg Kilgreen: You talked of the debut of Optiman, but it was only tonight in which your wrestler Macros made his own debut in a tag team match. A match which pitted your client against two others who were making their debuts, Dan Real and the former UWC Television Champion Dave Hunter. What were your thoughts on Macros’ debut match and his currant rate of performance.
Riley: Well it wasn’t a great debut match, unfortunately my client was pitted to wrestle against men whom are obviously way below his league.
Greg Kilgreen: These wouldn’t happen to be the same two men your talking about that have injured the leg of Macros enough for him to be rejuvenating here tonight.
Riley: Hey slow down there, ya starting to twist the situation here. I don’t believe I ever stated that Macros was injured, lets rewind this tape and see if the word injury had ever come up in this interview before. Injured please, this is nothing but a regular ritual in which my client undergoes after each match…just winding down the muscles and rejuvenating their strengths. Of course Hunter and Real were able to single out my client due to the inactive wrestling ability the tag team partner my client was cursed to wrestle with obviously has, so it was that eventually our opponents were able to weaken my client down slightly.
Macros Times Up!!!
Macros looks up from his state of rejuvenation, his head shuddering in the icy waters as he had waited for his managers call. Macros smiles as he stands up out of the water, small pieces of ice are tangled in his chest and facial hair, he brushes them off before moving quickly down into the warm tub of water. He reclines in the tub closing his eyes slightly soaking up the warmth.
Riley: But I stated last week that those whom my client were wrestling with were not in his class, so it would be no surprise that all that witnessed the match tonight saw my client Macros Vitruvious come out with his hand raised after delivering the Legion Crusher to the poor victim Dan Real. You see Greg my client did all the damn work in that match, my client was the man whom held the match together keeping it from the viewers eyes that it was full of non-talented scum.
Greg Kilgreen: Well it so happens that the “non-talented scum” you refereed to and tonight’s tag team partner to Macros, Lance Erickson, will be competing against your client in a Triangle Match along side Big Ci at next weeks DVD Taping, First Rights. What are your thoughts on that?
Riley: Well isn’t it obvious? It’s staring ya in the face. Tito Capaci obviously does not know how to book a true star to his company. We walked into this place bringing a legion of talent and fans along with us, any obvious booker would of placed my client on the top of the match card within a blink of an eye. Any booker with the common sense to see straight would of replaced a talent less nothing like Rich Morrison with in a blink of an eye with my client. Unless ya recently had your ears removed ya would have been able to here the reaction from the crowd when my client, Macros Vitruvious, was announced to the world of POW in his debut match. There was no other wrestler in that match that happened to get a bigger reaction, not even the steroid happy Lance Erickson.
Now as I have heard, Tito Capaci is a man who speaks money…a business man if you would. Well I am not a man of money, if you have seen the car I drive you will have already known that, but even I know that a man with the talent and fan appreciation in which my client has already achieved in his short lived wrestling career is something in which can make money. A man with such credentials as my client will make money. Ticket Prices…Money. DVD Sales…Money. Merchandise Sales…Money. You see the placement of my client higher on the card and against competition more competitive to his style and attributes in wrestling will give you all these things.
Greg Kilgreen: Well the match at First Rights is for a number one contendership to the Valor Championship, so it kind of is pushing Macros up the card.
Riley: Oh really is that what ya think is it, so now my client has to prove himself and take the long road to a championship in which he truly should be holding after First Rights.
Riley stops talking and whips out his handkerchief once again, whipping the sweat built up against his forehead. He takes a couple of breaths before turning back to the camera once again.
Riley: Well at least it’s a positive step in the right direction for our future in this business. Alas though it seems that such a making for a good match could be spoilt by the choice of opponents for my client, one whom has only had the pleasure to wrestle along side my client and the other whom has suffered a loss and championship defeat.
Big Ci, the wrestler home to the United Wrestling Company and sometimes showcasing his talents on the shores of the former Universal Wrestling League. Of course such a man is a promoters dream just due to his size and ferocious look, but it is when he enters the ring that he dissolves any promoters high hopes. As he occupied the Universal Wrestling League roster it was clear that the man was capable of securing a win to his name on a rare occasion, but of course with such a height and weight ratio as he has it would be thought that wins would come easy. But alas these rare wins were the highlights of his career in which I have witnessed, the only other matches in which I witnessed were those of Big Ci jobbing to the UWL jobbers. Of course as I stated before Big Ci happened to be booked along with my client in a Battle Royal for the newly created Southeastern Champion to crown it’s first holder, as had all before and after him in the UWL he witnessed my client in what was thought then as his peek of physical development. Just like all before and after him in the UWL, Big Ci found himself looking up from outside the ring as my client raised the Southeastern Championship to his waist.
Lance Erickson now comes into this match stepping out of his circle of safety as a tag team partner for my client, instead of standing alongside my client Erickson truly believes that he has what it takes to stand opposed to Macros and take the full force of his capabilities. An unfortunate choice on your part Mr. Erickson, for now it seems that you are the target for a fate in which was secured for Dan Real mere hours ago. First Rights there will be no savor for you nor Big Ci, there will be know rely on Macros to secure you a victory this time. Advantage of height, weight or physical enhancements will not secure you a win against the “Legion Soldier” Macros Vitruvious, come the finalization ringing of the bell after the Triangle Match it shall dawn on you that there is no competing with my client…there is no surviving once you oppose us.
Riley turns his back on the camera signaling his realization that the interview was finished, Greg Kilgreen turns back to the camera to sign off.
Greg Kilgreen: Well there ya…you…have it folks, that was just Riley manager of POW wrestler Macros telling you how POW is looking from his point of view. Im Greg Kilgreen bringing you the exclusives here from behind the scenes at Power On Wrestling.
The scene fades out as Greg Kilgreen broadly grins into the lens before dispersing into darkness.
