::scene opens up, David DeAngelo is seated at a lit up counter top, he looks down the bar and looks at the other patrons, they all seem to be in regular states of emotion whether it be depression drinking their cares away, or jovial drinking with friends and enjoying a night out, the bartender dressed in a suit with bow tie moves over in front of DD::
Bartender: Champagne sir...
DD:: Mmmm. Champagne is for celebrating, i'll have a martini.
::the bartender moves back out camera shot and Greg Kilgreen seats himself next to DD::
Greg: Hi Dave.
DD: Mr. Kilgreen, thanks for coming. I've got some things I need to say, and it's always better to have someone to say them to.
Greg: Well, I was a little bit surprised. You haven't offered to talk to me as of yet, I thought maybe you didn't like me or something.
DD: I like everyone Greg, it's nothing personal. I just don't find myself needing to speak within the same medium everytime I'm on television.
Greg: Fair enough.
::the bartender comes back and places DD's martini down, he then looks toward Kilgreen while dropping two olives in David's glass::
Greg: I'll just have a beer, whatever's on tap.
::the bartender walks off again and David looks over at Kilgreen::
DD: The beverage kings, Gambrinus the king of Flanders was named the "Beer King" he enjoyed the drink so much. Not enough personality in it for me. Now, I brought you here to talk about something obvious, and then something that's not so obvious.
Greg: Okay, shoot.
::DD takes a sip of his martini and continues::
DD: First of all, I'm having the martini because i'm not celebrating. I don't consider what happened between me and Black to be a victory. Then again, I don't take it as a loss either. You see, I find the whole situation a little foolish. The situation between Black and I had more hype behind it, maybe not by management or the advertisements, but simply by he and I and our television spots. More hype than even the Heavyweight Championship match between Shawn Stevens and Rich Morrison.
The fans were chomping at the bit, to see us tear each other apart right before their eyes. And we were set and primed to do that. And what did we deliver to them, a hard fought four and half minute matchup, followed by a time limit draw. Not a single match on the rest of that card had a time limit.....not one. And they only gave us twenty minutes. Now, I don't just blame the booking committee. No, you see, I blame Black as well.
During that four corners challenge, I played my game, and Black played his. I'm a very cerebral wrestler Greg. I like to get in my opponents heads, out smart them, and work smarter not harder. Black is all action and no thought. He's a freight train, and that's what makes him such a dominant force. But if you can whether the initial storm........you're set. Black can't think too far ahead. Once he's out of the blocks, and his first barrage is over, he gets lost in there. That much was evident in the match.
You see, I give Black credit, he's a hell of a figher. But to not be able to put away Riot and Dan Real, in a more timely fashion, two guys that weren't even in the match, I mean.......yeah they were in it, but they weren't IN it ya know. I didn't beat Black like I promised, and he sure as hell didn't beat me. But with all that talking we did, I honestly don't feel like my integrity is in question for not winning that match, you see I don't see it as "i didn't beat you" I more see it as I just ran out of time. Getting back to the way this match was laid out, if I had been given more time, I WOULD have put Black away in that match. No doubt about it.
::David takes another sip of his martini and the bartender drops a coaster on the table and puts down a mug of beer::
Greg: Thanks. So go on.
DD: So then, the outcome of this whole mess is that I find myself in some kind of title situation going into All In. But with Black walking out on POW, I'm left without an opponent for the match itself. And along with that, I have to prepare for a match with no opponent, which is definitely a challenge in itself. The best way I figure is to take on every match that comes my way leading up to the big night. Which brings me to this Thursday night. When I take on David Marcus Hatfield, a newcomer, well, just like me in a way.
::a sexy brunette walks into the bar wearing a skin tight red dress, David does a double take and watches her intently, Greg turns and watches the girl as well, David continues to talk without taking his eyes off of her::
DD: Now, I don't think he and I have much in common aside from our first names and our hair styles. But one thing I do know about the guy is that he is what is known as a stereotypical redneck, or hillbilly whichever he prefers. And one thing I've heard about rednecks and hillbillies is that they're tough. Real tough, and headstrong too. In a way, I figure it'll be similar to takin' on Black, the biggest difference being that at least Black is a talented in ring worker. This guy Hatfield looks like he came straight out of a saloon donnybrook and signed a POW contract afterwards.
The toughness of these southerners really intrigues me....
::the bartender passes by and David stops him::
DD: The girl at the end of the bar, what's her drink?
Bartender: Apple martini, dry.
DD: Put the one she's got on my tab, and set her up with another when she's done, and give her this note with it.
Bartender: Can do.
::the bartender takes the note and moves away::
DD: ....anyway, that toughness that they all seem to have, or believe that they have has really got my interest. So I've decided to go out on the road before I come back for the match, I'm going to go down to some of them southern towns, and I'm gonna do some regular redneck activities, to see just what makes David Marcus Hatfield tick. I mean, it could be the inbreeding, or maybe the it's the fact that they're missing so many teeth anyway that they don't mind losing the rest. Whatever it may be, I'm going to do my best to uncover it before the show on Thursday.
::David gets up from his seat and puts on his suit jacket::
DD: I'll also be taking along my favorite little journalist.
::Kilgreen looks up with a big grin on his face::
DD: That's right Greg, I'm taking along Ms. Larkin from the paper.
::Kilgreens' smile drops as David begins to walk away::
DD: Should be riveting, don't worry about the beer Greg, it's on me.
::David moves closer to the brunette and reveals a hotel room key card in one hand, and a pair of handcuffs in the other, the girl gets wide eyed as he takes her by the hand and they leave the bar as Kilgreen is left to drink alone and the scene fades::
Bartender: Champagne sir...
DD:: Mmmm. Champagne is for celebrating, i'll have a martini.
::the bartender moves back out camera shot and Greg Kilgreen seats himself next to DD::
