:: Big Ci is walking down a hallway backstage at the Star Pavilion. We hear his cell phone ringing and he fumbles to get it out of his pocket. He looks at the display and then answers it
Big Ci: Dave… mate… how’s it going?
…
Good. What you up to? Training I hope.
…
Well keep at it because Stevens is no push over… I beat him off a fluke and he very rarely makes mistakes… especially when he has a title riding on it.
…
He’s rock hard mate… but so are you… I know you can beat him
…
Me?
…
Yeah I’m training… I had last week off so I’m rested but Duke won last week so he has some momentum… but he’s not booked this week so he won’t build too much up… sorry mate what was that?
…
Me, I’ve got Rich
…
Yeah should be good. Tough competition is our Rich.
…
It’ll be a good match
…
I should be able to take him though
…
What am I doing now?
:: Greg Kilgreen approaches Ci from behind from around the corner with a microphone
…
Well truth be told I’m trying to avoid Kilgreen.
…
:: Greg realises he is talking about him and looks around at the floor embarrassed and a touch upset
Yeah Lance said he was looking for me
…
I don’t know what for, probably wants to ask me out.
:: Greg looks up at Ci insulted. He moves closer so that he is stood right behind him as the conversation continues
…
Well I don’t know for certain but you never see him with a woman do you?
…
Not that there’s anything wrong with that… sort of… thing… just not my cup of tea
…
But yeah he is an insufferable pain in the ass isn’t he.
:: Greg now has a smug look on his face as Ci carries on talking to Dave
…
Yeah so any way…
:: Greg coughs.
:: Ci stops talking dead and turns his head to see Greg, who has his arms folded and a smile on his face as he raises himself up on the balls of his feet impatiently. Ci acknowledges him with a big false yet obviously embarrassed smile before turning back to face away from Greg. His face drops as he closes his eyes in embarrassment. He speaks quickly into the phone.
Big Ci: I’ll call you back
:: Big Ci spins around to face Greg, the false smile having returned.
Big Ci: Greg… mate… how’s it going… having a good gay… er… good day?
Greg Kilgreen: … Ci if we could remain professional for a moment… this week, on the road to Supermania 3: United Power…
Big Ci: (jokily) god… that’s a mouthful
:: Big Ci looks away quickly again in embarrassment as he realises the possible connotations of his last statement
Greg Kilgreen: ANYWAY… just a couple of short weeks away from your UWC Extreme Title unification match with George Duke’s POW Valor Championship, you step between the ropes to face an on-off associate of yours in Rich Morrison. If I may, I’d like to get your thoughts on both of these high-profile matches as well as a number of other things. (Sarcastically)Do you think you could cope with the suffering for a few minutes?
:: Big Ci has started playing with his nails as he looks towards the floor, having given up on trying to pretend nothing has been said.
Big Ci: (Trying to laugh it off) I’ll give it a go
Greg Kilgreen: Well first off… your match this week with Rich Morrison. You have a bit of history with Rich… at one point he was linked with the Horsemen. So what are your thoughts and attitude going into this match?
Big Ci: Well Rich and I do get on… I count him as a friend of sorts… but the fact of the matter is that I never go into a match not wanting to win… and this match is no different. I go into that ring with the intention of having my hand raised at the end. When I face Rich i will have that same intention. I am a wrestler when I’m in that ring… not a friend… not a companion… nothing but a wrestler.
Now I know that it’s not gonna be a walk over. Rich is one of the best in this business. He has held every title there is to possibly win in every promotion he has been in… he has beaten me before in singles and tag competition. But you are only as good as your last match… so we will see who is better after this week.
Greg Kilgreen: You say that you are only as good as your last match… well your form as of late has been… below your usual standard to say the very least. After taking the week off last week, how well do you think you will fare against Rich… whose record is one of the best in POW?
Big Ci: Well like I said… we will see who is better after this week. It’s true that I have not been having the best run recently. That said, I am not unfamiliar to bad runs. The last time I had a run like this, though, I pulled out the biggest victory of my career against Shawn Stevens… so bed form does nothing except spur me on. Rich is on good form, but that means nothing to me… i am going to walk into that ring with one goal… beat Rich Morrison… and I am gonna walk out having accomplished that goal. Rich is one hell of an opponent… we will have one hell of a match… and it will be one hell of a victory… for Big Ci
Greg Kilgreen: Well as we know, Rich cannot have his mind completely focussed on the match as he is currently embroiled in a feud with his old friend Kailus Holmes and Benjamin Payne. Will this play to your advantage?
Big Ci: I hope not. Rich has personal issues which he will work out with Kailus Holmes at Supermania. That is fine. But when he’s in the ring with me I know that Rich will keep his eye on the ball. He knows that he needs to be one hundred percent focussed in the ring with me, and I expect him to be this week.
If, though, Kailus Holmes wants to interfere in our match, well that is a different story. You see, whilst I am all business in that ring… if Kailus Holmes gives the referee cause to stop the match… well then I can be as personal as you like. Personally, Rich is my friend, so if you start on him after he has wrestled me… you will need to deal with me as well.
Greg Kilgreen: OK Ci… Now on to Supermania… you get another shot at George Duke and the Valor title… only this time… your extreme Championship is on the line also. With so much at stake, at POW and UWC’s biggest show to date, how are you feeling heading into… what some consider… the biggest match of your career?
:: Big Ci contemplates his answer. Pondering which words to use.
Big Ci: I’m looking forward to facing George Duke… George is one hell of a talent. But on the other hand I am worried. You see the last time that I faced George Duke… I was outsmarted. He went and pulled a Mic McManus on me and made me think that he had submitted. He made me look like a green-horn, because I made a rookie mistake. That pissed me off. So I am worried, that I might forget, try as I might not to, that I am all business in the ring. And, lately I found out that, although my title is on the line also, the extreme title… this match I am in with George Duke will be contested under Valor title rules. That means that if I forget myself and I go old-school on George Duke maybe with some barbed wire, or a chair or some other “foreign object” then I lose my title. Now I don’t want to do that.
But whilst I am concerned I might want to cause Duke pain a little bit too much… the thought of walking out of Dodge City, with 20, 000 strong chanting my name, carrying the Extreme title on my right shoulder and the Valor title on my left shoulder… yeah…. I think I like that idea a lot better than walking out with nothing but George Duke’s blood on my hands… but only just. And then me and the Horsemen will go and party like only we can…
:: He smiles
Greg Kilgreen: Speaking of the Horsemen… we have not heard from Dave Hunter for a while now… I believe you were on the phone to him as I walked in…
:: Big Ci becomes slightly embarrassed again
… Do you know if he is prepared for the challenge of the Midwest Heavyweight champion, Shawn Stevens?
Big Ci: Dave is always ready… he wouldn’t be International Heavyweight champion if he wasn’t ready. Dave is one of the best this industry has to offer and he is one of the best of any company I have ever been in. There is no doubt in my mind that Dave could take Triple S. That’s not to say it will be easy… but if there was one man I would put money on to unseat Shawn… it would be on my best friend, the Predator, the UWC International Champion… Dave Hunter.
Greg Kilgreen: Ok… thanks for your time
Big Ci: No problem… and listen… about before…
:: Before Big Ci can say anything else two of FDCM’s Flying Diamond Cutter Girls appear from around the corner. They position themselves, one on either side of Greg Kilgreen. They each kiss him on the cheek as he links arms with the pair of them. Greg speaks to Ci.
Greg Kilgreen: Listen Ci…. Forget it. Now if you’ll excuse me… I have a date with these two delectable ladies. OK?
:: Big Ci just stands there dumb-struck
Greg Kilgreen: OK. See you later
:: Greg and the FDCG’s exit the camera shot as Ci stands open mouthed at Greg and the girls. His expression slowly changes to a smirk and then a wide smile. He shakes his head in partial admiration and partial disbelief as he turns around and walks out of shot.
:: Fade to black
:: End of segment
