The scene opens up in a huge banquet style room in the Ameristar Casino. A small stage is set up in the front of the room with a podium in the middle with the POW logo on it. On either side of the podium is a chair. In the room are various media outlets. Magazines, websites, television, newspapers, radio and even Greg Kilgreen from the POW interview team. The rest of the room is filled with fans. The whole room is buzzing until "Devotion and Desire" by Bayside hits. From the left of the stage steps Shawn Stevens in his ring gear with the POW Midwest Heavyweight Championship around his waist. Behind him steps Tito Capaci in one of his trademarked hundred thousand dollar suits. Stevens does his signature pose then takes a seat in the chair to the right of the podium. Capaci walks up to the mic as the music fades down. The room goes silent in wait.
Tito: This is the final stop for our Midwestern Heavyweight Champion on his media blitz week. So let's finish it up. I present to you "Sensational" Shawn Stevens.
Capaci claps and backs up allowing Stevens to stand and walk up to the microphone. Capaci sits down behind in the left handed chair. The room also gives a round of applause and cheers. Stevens takes off his title belt and places it in front of the microphone as if it was a seal. The crowd quiets down as Stevens leans on the podium.
Shawn: Well let's not waste any time, I have a match to win. Who has questions?
Dozens of hands raise into the air and many voices say "here". Stevens points at one in the front row.
Shawn: You first.
Reporter #1: Shawn, as we all know you have been on a media run appearing on TV and the radio earlier in the week. Do you feel you have prepared enough for this huge match against JR Zevon?
Shawn: While I have been running all over the place, any downtime I had I got to a gym or stepped into a ring in the local independant promotions I could find. I was given a limo to use by Tito Capaci there between the two shows and I was watching the tapes from POW: New England of JR Zevon's recent matches. So I have been preparing quite a bit. It's a major part of this business knowing what you're going against. I'm feeling pretty confident in my ability. Since I use such a wide style, Zevon won't know what to expect this week. Hopefully that too can throw him off enough for me to get the one, two, three. Next question?
Again the flury of hands shoot up and Stevens selects another, this time from the middle of the room.
Shawn: You, the woman in the pink suit.
Woman Reporter #1: Mr. Stevens, this upcoming match is a lumberjack match. JR Zevon has publicly stated who he asked to be his lumberjacks for the match. Have you made any of your own selections or are your's being assigned to you by Capaci?
Shawn: Great question. I actually have four of them picked out already. They have been recent partners of mine and I know I can count on them to watch my back and make sure the New England boys don't get involved. Of course I am referring to the Four Horsemen, Lance Erikson, Reck Maverick, Big Ci, and Dave Hunter. The final lumberjack is still up in the air. I'm trying to get a big star to take the position cause I'd like to make sure the best of the Midwest are out there representing with myself and the Horsemen. So you'll all have to wait to see who that fifth member is at the end of the night. Next?
Once more the hands fly into the air and Steven selects Kip Anderson from the crowd.
Shawn: Kipper, nice to see you as always, what do you got for me?
Kip: You chose the Horsemen as your lumberjacks, but aren't you facing Dave Hunter at Supermania III? Doesn't that worry you that he might be a problem?
Shawn: Not at all Kip. I know Dave won't cost me any matches. It's not his style. And I focus on the match that's right in front of me. I don't look past anyone, unless their name is Rich Morrison....eh nah Rich is even a minor threat. Midnight Felon....that's someone I can look past. But Zevon, he is basically me in POW New England. So I trust my own lumberjacks to not screw me over. Lance and I have partnered quit a few times, as has Ci and myself. Reck and I have had issues but I think we are through that until he beats Eagles ass in that series and comes after me for this title. And Dave isn't a guy to take the low road. He's one of the few I can think to actually face someone man to man. Next?
Again the hands go up and Stevens starts to pick Greg Kilgreen but then switches to the other side of the room.
Shawn: You in the Royals cap.
Reporter #2: You mentioned you want a major star as the final lumberjack. Any ideas of who it could be?
Shawn: Honestly, I don't care. The Midwest has many stars in the back. Kailus Holmes, Kaleb Shadix, Nick Pickles, Josh Eagles, Kid Luck, Showtime, Hannibal, King Cobra....any of them wouldn't be a bad choice. In a case like this I'm not looking for a partner. Just someone who will make sure the New England lumberjacks don't decide to get liberal with their duties. I'm telling the Horsemen to keep out as much as possible. I want this match to go fairly. No cheap shots from either side. I don't want to see Zevon become like some of my past opponents and cry foul play. I haven't ever needed to get a cheap win. If that's the only way one can win then they don't even deserve to be in this business. Alright. Last question.
Again the hands go up and Stevens points at Greg Kilgreen.
Shawn: You there. The woman behind Kilgreen.
Kilgreen slaps his forehead and rubs his face. Stevens grins knowing he is messing with Kilgreen.
Woman Reporter #2: Shawn my quest--
Capaci stands up and moves Stevens to the side. He cuts the woman off.
Tito: Sorry, no more questions. You'll have to watch the show for any more comments and developments.
Stevens shrugs, grabs his title belt and starts to walk away. Greg Kilgreen stands up and yells.
Greg: I HAD A QUESTION!
Stevens pushes Tito back and grabs the mic.
Shawn: Sorry, ran out of time. Take that up with your boss.
Greg: But you ignored me this whole time.
Shawn: No time, gotta go.
Kilgreen is visibly angered as Stevens walks off the stage and out of the room. Capaci shrugs his shoulders and walks away also as the scene fades to black.
