Usually this is where I'd say we were in the Legendary Ninja lair... but since we are not in Kansas City, I won't. Instead we are in some generic locker room in the Scottrade Center. Where we see everyone's favourite Ninja-Hero-Power Ranger, fresh from the BBQ at Lancer's place. He is doing some calisthenics - Ninja Calisthenics... Calisthenics that mere mortals could not comprehend. Yeah... it's that hardcore. Maverick just finishes up when he is approached by POW Senior correspondent Greg Kilgreen.
Greg Kilgreen - Hey Reckster - you got a minute?
Reck Maverick - For you... no.
Greg hangs his head in utter defeat and slowly walks away. Along the way he passes Jayde Nightwood, who laughs at Kilgreen.
Jayde - Ha! see I told you that you couldn't get an interview - so pay up!
Greg mutters some sort of profanity and takes some money out of his pocket and hands it to her then stomps off. She counts the money - grin and places it her pocket then walks up to the Atomic Ninja.
Jayde - So Reck, got any hilariously witty comment for you opponent / brother - Flap Flanagan?
Reck Maverick - I see what you are trying to do Jayde, and 95% of the time it would work. But like I told citizen Gregory. I have no time for idle chatter and meaningless threats. See I am going into combat with the toughest opponent bar-none that I have other faced. Not just from a physical perspective, but from an emotional one as well.
I mean yes, Flap is perhaps the single toughest competitor in all of the POW - with the notable exceptions of myself and the Horsemen. But you have to factor in the fact that I am facing my own flesh, my own blood... well maybe not my complete flesh and blood, but we do share half of the same genes. We came up through this industry together... from the glory days of MPW to the dark apocalyptic era of... UWL. He we know each other better then anyone. To say this will be my ultimate challenge is a gross understatement.
I have heard from all my Reckrophiliacs hundreds of names of wrestlers that have been considered my greatest foe... Zap, Tenacious D, Skorp, That one guy with that move, That goth guy - whatshisname, The Drake brothers, Beagles and the list goes on and on... and on some more.
But you see here's the thing, those guys are/were sort of good, but those dudes were only tough in terms of combat, wrestling ability... which is highly overrated anyway. But Flanagan has an edge that no one else has. That like I mentioned previously, Flap knows every my many tricks of the ninja... which probably the scariest of them all.
Jayde - You know what you just did right?
Reck Maverick - What?
Jayde - You just CUT A PROMO!
Reck Maverick - Wait, no! I...
Jayde - Thank you... BYE!
Jayde grins broadly and runs off... Maverick attempts to go after her... but stops and watches her leave.
Reck Maverick - Curses foiled again!
