The scene opens in the home of Shawn Stevens on the south side of the city of Chicago. Stevens is walking down a hall with a Joe Crede White Sox jersey on. He appears very relaxed for having just been in a tough match with JR Zevon and his upcoming match against Dave Hunter. Stevens notices that his time has begun and he starts to open the door to his right. He walks in and the camera follows. There are two championship belts hanging on the far wall, there are many open spaces allowing for more championships, but Stevens walks to the wall and stares at the belts.
Shawn: It's that time again, the time when everyone starts calling for my head and saying how bad I will be losing my POW Midwestern Heavyweight Championship. However this time it is very different. In my entire career I have only held two major championships, the UWL World Heavyweight Championship which was my FIRST title ever. A mere nineteen years old and I did something many people can't accomplish in the entire careers. I went on to be the greatest UWL Heavyweight Champion. Some may argue FDCM was, but I beat him. And some may argue that Tito Capaci was, but half his winstreak was thanks to my brother, and the rest were against people like Kris Williams or Ryan Murphy, hardly championship caliber. I on the other hand faced the best of the best week after week month after month. Flying Diamond Cutter Man, Josh Eagles, Mad Max, Teddy Davis, Jason Daniels, Flap Flanagan. Not one of those names can be left off of any list of great stars, except possibly Davis for his actions outside the ring....but still in the ring and at that time he was still respected.
No one can deny those facts, yet everyone seems to forget or tell me not to think the past meant anything. So I focus on the present. I've come to POW and established myself once again as one of the greats. Becoming the first POW Heavyweight Champion by beating another one of the greats Rich Morrison. But once again I put this title on the line against the best POW could throw at me. Danny Danielson and George Duke, again argueably two of the best veterans in the world today. But was that enough for the doubters? Nope...not at all. Midnight Felon and his group of assclowns felt they needed to make a statement to me and everyone else that I wasn't all I claimed to be. So for weeks they jumped me and challenged me until I finally gave them what they wanted. So I got the Horsemen to counter their four on one advantage and we beat them at their own game. A six man tag team match. Then Felon wanted his one on one cage match and he got it, but what happens? Instead of realizing he simply lost to the better man, he pissed and moaned crying all kinds of bullshit and now his career has fizzled. Yet no one says it was because I am everything I say I am....any maybe more.....because of my lack of experience as some may call it.
Having only held two championships in my career may seem like I haven't accomplished much, but two MAJOR championships in my first two years of being in at the professional level. How can anyone say I am anything short of Sensational? Instead of holding numerous midlevel or lowlevel championships I shot right to the top and held both for months. I haven't been able to focus on anything less because having the top titles do indeed make me a marked man. Not to take away from the value of the championships held by George Duke or Kaleb Shadix, but let's face the facts. If I challenged them for their titles I would be walking around with three belts. So I have kept to my own turning back all challengers not getting greedy and letting everyone have a chance to shine, until Supermania.
Tito Capaci swung the deal for POW to get the rights to all of UWC's events and championships. What a way to get POW on the map, get a world renowned promotion and use all those Benjamins Capaci has to buy it and run it under his own banner. The man knows what he's doing, I'll give him that. But now he wants all of the championships unified into their POW equivilents. So that places me in a spot to gain a third championship. The UWC International Championship held by a man I called a friend, Dave Hunter, the Predator. Dave and the Horsemen have had my back these last few weeks and I have no way to thank them. I've never had anyone stick with me that long. Erikson, Maverick, Ci as well. My reputation of being a spoiled brat usually precedes me and no one wants anything to do with me, but the Horsemen were the first four guys I would actually call friends in this business.
And now the problem arises with that because I have to face a friend in Dave for his title versus my title. Only one of us can walk out with both. The winner will be crowned the POW Midwestern Heavyweight Champion and the loser will leave with nothing. I was hoping this would be a nice competitive bout but Dave took a cheap shot on the last POW Road to Supermania show. I can't say I blame him, I was thinking the exact same thing. He just beat me to the punch. The psychological advantage went to him. He was the one standing over me the last time we were in the ring together, the veteran in him won out over the rookie in me. But that wasn't the match, this week will be the match Dave. And I promise to you that as much as I call you a friend, I will have no problem taking that championship from you. As you can see my wall has many spots to fill in, and I will start with that title you have held for months. You haven't been in POW matches in weeks so maybe your ring rust will affect you, or maybe you getting to rest will win out since I had to face the POW New England Heavyweight Champion, JR Zevon last week.
The camera zooms onto Stevens face only showing his eyes down to his mouth.
Shawn: It's all up in the air when we step out that curtain. The fans love both of us Dave and I can only say we need to give them the best match of the night. It's up to you and I to steal the show. Forget FDCM and Capaci, forget Duke and Ci, forget JTN, Shadix, Showtime, and Pickles......none of the other championship matches are going to compare to our own. Both of us want this more than anything, and the history between us may be ninety percent friendship and respect, but that ten percent of competition will bring out the best in both of us. You an all your accomplishments, me and my natural ability......this match will bring the house down. Supermania may have once only been UWC, but I will represent POW more than any other champions because I AM POW. I will make sure this POW/UWC Supermania show is the best show ever. And I will do it because I am.....Simply Sensational.....
The camera pans back as Stevens stares at the wall, he hangs up a sign between the UWL and POW championship belts. The sign reads UWC International Championship. Stevens turns back to the camera and grins as the scene fades to black.
