We tune into a special press conference in the Ameristar Casino in Kan City, to promote the upcoming POW First Rights - featuring the match to determine the first ever POW Heavyweight Wrestling Champion... But that is the focus at the moment... Morrison and Stevens already had made their comments and given the relationship between them, security was quick to break them apart.
We now see Mr. Capaci talking, he is introducing the HERO of the STORY, that's right! The STAR of the SHOW! He has just introduced "The Atomic Ninja" Reck Maverick. Reck approaches the microphone dressed in a 3 piece suit and a traditional hooded Ninja Mask. He thanks Mr. Capaci and begins to address the press and other personnel that is in attendance.
Reck Maverick - Thank you everyone. As most of you might already know, I current do not have an opponent at First Rights. I have been offered a number of opponents by Tito... er, Mr. Capaci - but I have turned them down, and many insiders of POW have been asking me why? Thus is why I am here this afternoon.
Earlier in the week a mysterious message was e-mailed to the offices of POW, I will read this message aloud for those who missed the related news story on the POW website.
Maverick pulls a piece of paper from his jacket pocket and begins to recite the words written on it.
Reck Maverick - Ahem... "For quite some time, we've been watching you. All of you. We see Tito Capaci's blatant mismanagement. We've seen Rich Morrison continue to be the most egotistical man in the world. We've see Shawn Stevens, POW's most overrated wrestler.
Tsk, Tsk.
When your time comes, it's over. Nothing can save you.
Not your business- Tito.
Not your money- Rich.
Not your ego- Shawn.
Soon, change will be mandatory."
Our hero now re-folds the note and replaces it back into his pocket.
Reck Maverick - The reason I brought this matter up is because I am officially calling the bluff of the individual or individuals involved in this event. The way I see it, this entity is attempting to threaten not only POW's promoter but for better or worse - the two biggest draws currently on our roster. In essence this entity is threatening the entire Power On Wrestling organization... and as the official HERO of the POW, I can and will not allow the plan of this unknown contingent to come into fruition.
At POW First Rights, I am challenging any and all members of this entity to face me... the HERO of the STORY, the STAR of the SHOW to battle and I say to Mr. Capaci that he should allow me to fight this fight... because even though we were not on the best of terms in Kentucky and Tennessee, he is aware of my reputation as an enforcer as well he should know that I may well be the only man capable of stopping this event before it ever happens.
Now I am not doing this for any of the three previously mentioned men personally... I have neither love nor hate for any of them, I have been in several promotions with "New Money" Rich Morrison, but we have never faced off in combat. "Sensational" Shawn Stevens and Mr. Capaci however, I have had run-ins with in the past - but any and all animosity I had for them died along with the Universal Wrestling League. I am challenging this entity because I want to protect the interests of POW. So whether or not Morrison or Stevens like it or not - I will be silently watching their backs from the shadows, and I will eliminate any and all threats against them... To use an old cliche: If anyone wants to get to them - or Mr. Capaci for that matter they will have to go through yours truly... Reck Maverick.
I will stand in the middle of the ring at First Rights, and I WILL call out those who wrote that message, anyone in the POW locker room who wishes to aid me in this conflict, I welcome them to my side. I promise to Mr. Capaci, I promise Shawn Stevens and I promise Rich Morrison that I will take out this contingent... and while I usually promise to never harm those I do battle with, this will have to be one of the rare exceptions to the rule... and a warning to all future would-be invaders of this company. You will RESPECT this company, you will RESPECT POW and you will RESPECT Reck Maverick. Thank you all, I whole-heartedly encourage everyone to purchase the DVD of First Rights when it is released.
