Yeah, hopefully you all have been keeping up with this weeks mini-series so I'll skip the usual recap and keep right back into it.
Reid takes one more deep, trying to retain some form of courage... times like this Reid wished he could rely on "Liquid Courage" like a lot of people but since our hero is straight edge he's got to do it the hard way. He walks over toward Jayde who is currently going over some production stuff with one of the techies but she notices Reid coming and a smile comes across her face.
Jayde - Hey Reck!
Reid Flanagan - Hey... listen can we go talk somewhere?
Jayde tilts her head a little bit.
Jayde - What's wrong?
Jayde cups her mouth so that the techie can't hear in and she whispers to Reid.
Jayde - Is it the Green Ranger? Did you find him!
Reid shakes his head and Jayde's look of confusion grows. She waves goodbye to the techie to dismiss him and he walks away as Reid slumps up against the nearby wall.
Jayde - Ok... We are alone, what's up?
Reid Flanagan - I... uh... do you... er... ah damn.
Jayde notes the frustration on the face of our hero and she can't help but smile a little, she then takes Reid's hand, a gesture that he wasn't expecting.
Jayde - It's okay... I think I know what your trying to ask.
Reid Flanagan - Really...?
Jayde - Of course - I talk to Flap and Reiko too you know.
Reid looks away... The grapevine - naturally enemy of the ninja. Reid looks back at Jayde and tries to maintain eye contact as he speaks.
Reid Flanagan - Well now I really feel stupid... Here I am going out of my mind trying to think of how to tell you that I still think about you all the time... That you are still the light that keeps me from the path of darkness. Your very presence fills me with a strength and courage that I never knew I had but at the same time make me weak and lose focus, that you are my everything and that I am nothing with out you... I lost you once and it damn neared killed me and the fear of losing you again puts a fear into me that word cannot decribe... but you knew it all along...
Jayde smiles a little and giggles.
Jayde - Reid... I'm sorry.
Reid Flanagan - Jayde...?
Jayde - I didn't really talk to Reiko or Flap, I just told you that so that you wouldn't be so nervous...
Reid's face goes pale and his eyes roll into the back of his head as he collapses.
A little while later in the Ninjas lair... Reid wakes up on his old sofa, he sits up and shakes his head trying to remember what happened - and it all came rushing back to him - He quickly looks around the room and he sees Jayde stand there watching him, he scrambles to his feet and begins to talk incoherently but he stops and takes a deep breath. He then begins to talk at a semi-normal pace.
Reid Flanagan - Jayde... I'm sorry - I was WAY out of line to say those things to...
Jayde places her hand to his mouth and Reid shuts up - her touch had a soothing effect on him.
Jayde - It's okay Reid...
Jayde runs her hand down Reid's neck and his arm and takes his hand in her own. Reid looks down at their hands - It feels like heaven to him.
Jayde - I'm glad you still feel the way you do about me... Truth is I still have feeling for you too.
Jayde actually blushes a little at that revelation - which is shocking because Ninjas don't blush - It's like a rule or something. A grin comes across the face of The Atomic Ninja.
Reid Flanagan - I guess my next question will be a breeze now... Do you want to go and grab something to eat after my match tonight?
Jayde just nods her head - she dares not to open her mouth in case she goes off on a rant like Reid did earlier. She looks down toward the ground and notices her watch.
Jayde - Crap!
Reid Flanagan - What!?
Jayde - You got to go! You're match is coming up shortly.
Reid Flanagan - I don't want to go... I want this moment to last.
Jayde - I know... but you're the champion. You have a duty to your fans.
Jayde steps up closer to Reid and wraps her arms around his waist in a hug... Reid is quick to do the same.
Jayde - Do be careful out there.
Reid closes his eyes as the fragrance of her shampoo fills his head.
Reid Flanagan - I will Kunoichi... They can't stop me now.
Jayde - Good...
They hold the embrace for a couple more seconds and they finally break. Reid begins to walk toward the exit but stops and pulls out his Ninjetti Buckler... A Flash of light... And Reck Maverick is ready to battle, he looks back at Jayde one last time - One last dose of courage and he flashes the Thumbs up and she returns the gesture with a smile and a thumbs up of her own and Reck Maverick disappears into the shadows...
