It was all a blur to me. The last I can remember is getting my head knocked around. I don’t quite remember anything after the accident. I barely remember who I am. I’ve got to try and find my past. I’ve got to learn my present and get ready for my future. I’m making a great decision and that it returning to the ring to find out who I really am. I need to find my origin. I think by coming back I can rekindle some of my memories. My debut match in POW New England is a big tag team match. I heard that one team is the tag team champions. My partner, a zombie, and I don’t know who the other two guys are. I don’t even know who I am to be honest.
I heard a knock at my door. I stood up and walked over to the door and opened it. That’s when I suddenly realized that I’m not at home. I don’t know where I am. The man at the door was my doctor. I didn’t know what to say or do, so I waited until he started a conversation with me.
“How are you doing today sir?”
“I don’t know. I don’t remember anything doc. I’m not sure who I am or where I am.”
“Well you are at the hospital and you were in a terrible accident. Don’t you remember any of that?”
“I remember just a little. I don’t know how it happened though or where it happened. Listen, I’ve got a wrestling match. I don’t know how I knew about it, but I was hearing a voice in my head telling me to get up for a debut match.”
“Well son, you had a visitor a couple of hours ago.”
I walked back and sat on my bed. I rubbed my head a little bit and felt the bandages. I looked down at the ground then back up to the doctor.
“Who came to see me?”
“It was some girl; she was a gorgeous one too. She told me she was your girlfriend.”
“Doctor, I don’t remember anybody. She must’ve been the voice telling me about my match. Am I cleared to wrestle?”
“Son, with your condition I wouldn’t recommend that you step foot in the wrestling ring.”
“But I need to, I have to. If doing that will bring back my memories then I must.”
“Do you even remember your name?”
“No...No I don’t.”
“Then what makes you think you are in the shape to wrestle? You’ve had a terrible accident and you can barely walk.”
“Tell me what my name is? Who am I doctor?”
“Listen I think you need to get some rest. You are Ron but you go by the name King Cobra is the wrestling world.”
“I do not remember the wrestling world. Would I know anybody in the business?”
The doctor hesitated to answer but he didn’t give me one. He turned and started walking out the door. I stood back up and tried stopping him, but to know avail.
“Wait a minute…why didn’t you answer my question?”
The door shut on me and I just stood there. I don’t know who I am. All I know is a name. How can I withstand a wrestling match if I can’t withstand not knowing my past? I lie back on the bed and fell asleep. Then I had a dream. I was in a wrestling ring. I was holding up a championship belt and some guy came down. He went by the name of George Duke. The dream didn’t last long as I was awaken by a voice, a soft and sweet voice that stood before me. I looked up and saw a gorgeous and pretty face staring down at this retched face of mine. She spoke to me and I just stared on.
“Hey. You’ve been knocked out for several weeks. Do you know who I am?”
“I’m afraid I don’t. I apologize dearly but were you the one telling me about a match I’ve got in POW New England?”
“Yes I am. You don’t remember anything do you?”
“I’m afraid not. How did I end up here?”
“We were driving back from the New England head quarters after you signed a deal with POW New England. We came to a red light then suddenly out of no where a bus slammed on the side of the car and we flipped twice. I escaped the tragedy with minor injuries but you were knocked out and it was a horrible scene. We thought you were dead.”
“Oh my god, I am sorry for putting you in harms way.”
“It wasn’t your fault. The doctor says you lost a lot of your memories and you couldn’t even tell him your name.”
“Yea I know, but he wouldn’t answer this question I had for him. I asked him if I knew anybody in the wrestling business.”
“No you don’t. Listen though; the doctor said you will be cleared to go in a few hours. Are you hungry? I brought some sandwiches.”
This pretty girl sat down next to me. She opened a bag and handed me a sandwich. I did nothing but stared at her trying my hardest to remember who she is and why she was here with me now. I took a bite out of the sandwich I was holding. She smiled at me and I smiled back. I was hesitant to ask for her name. I must know her from somewhere.
“I apologize deeply but may I ask for your name? I couldn’t remember my name to be honest.”
“It’s okay. My name is Catherine. You can call me Cat for short.”
What a sweet name I thought to myself. How could I forget a face like that or a name such as Catherine? I felt horrible I couldn’t remember. I just continued eating the sandwich and kept thinking that I may have screwed up the very thing I wanted in life. I do not know. I started speaking again; I didn’t want her to feel that I’m uncomfortable with her presence.
“Thank you for the sandwich. I was really hungry. Hey how long was I out for?”
“You were gone for about two or three weeks. I lost count because it seemed like forever. I was really scared, as was everyone else.”
“Again I’m sorry. I didn’t want things to be like this.”
“Don’t worry about it, the great thing is though, you’re alive and now we just have to get you back in shape.”
I finished my sandwich and sat up next to her. I smiled and she smiled back at me. She hugged me and started tearing in her face. I held her close to me because I knew somewhere in my head that her and I are really close. She stood up and grabbed me by the hand. I stood up next to her and we started walking out of the room. I was moving slow. I had to get the feel back in my legs.
“I can barely walk. I don’t think I can wrestle. The doctor was right about me staying away from the ring.”
“That’s nonsense. You can walk again. It’ll take time. Not everyone can cure themselves just like that. You’ve got to train again and become healthier.”
“How can I do that? I don’t remember anybody. I don’t know if I can do it still.”
“I’ve got an idea. I recorded every one of your matches. I’ve got them on VHS and on DVD. We’ll sit down tomorrow and watch them. Right now, I’m going to try and see if you’re good to leave.”
“We should do that, I mean if it’ll help me remember my place in the wrestling world. I’ll be more than happy to watch them.”
This girl is trying so hard to get me to remember who I am. I can feel something inside of me saying that we were meant for each other. I feel something inside of me that is telling me she is the one for me and we’ve got so much more than just love. We came up to the front desk to check me out. To my surprise we got the confirmation to leave. We walked back to my room though to get my clothes. Then we walked out of the hospital. She drove and I sat in the passenger side. I started a conversation with her about the man George Duke I had dreamed about.
“Before I was woken up, I had a dream I was in a ring with a championship belt and a man by the name George Duke was coming down the aisle. Do you know who that man is?”
She smiled with enlightenment. She knew who I was talking about and nodded her head before giving an answer. She spoke with that soft sweet voice and I listened.
“You had a run in an organization called Gem City Wrestling. George Duke was the man that made you famous. Your feud with him lasted a long time in GCW and he could never defeat you. You beat him in his match, the scaffold match. And you beat him to win the very title you carried for months. The Inner City championship was your pride possession in the wrestling world. It was because of your feud with that man that made you ‘The People’s King’ King Cobra and your career sparked from there.”
“That must’ve been why I dreamt about him. Is there anything else that would help me remember who I am? How did I end up in POW New England?”
“That I don’t know. I do know that after your run in Gem City Wrestling you went back to New Era Wrestling and you had a classic run as the No F’N Rulz champion. You still have that title hanging in your room back home. You’ve had countless battles in that division. You’ve defended that belt in many situations and against more than one person. You haven’t lost the belt, but with New Era Wrestling’s shut down, everyone lost their respectful titles.”
I kept thinking as hard as I could to try and remember my place in the wrestling business. Some of what she was telling me brings back little pieces of information. But still it was coming and going off the top of my head. The only thing that could help me are those videos she has told me about.
“Thanks for helping me. Everything is coming and going. I’m slowly remembering those organizations and I am starting to remember my stint as a champion. But still, I don’t remember who I was in the business.”
“Do you remember anything at all about yourself? There’s got to be something floating around.”
“Actually there is, I do in fact remember growing up on the streets of New York. I was looking for something, rather someone. I just can’t pin point who the person is. It’s still a blur to me. My brain is half scrambled. Do you have any clue who I was trying to find?”
I couldn’t tell him who he was looking for. He must not know the truth, or at least not right now. He can’t know who is brother is, he can’t know that his opponents are his brother and friend. I just couldn’t tell him the truth behind his career, how he ended up in the wrestling world, and how he became as good as he is. I just couldn’t let him know. He doesn’t remember anything and if he finds out who Night and Daye are then he might turn on his fans. I spoke to him and regrettably fed him half the truth with a little lie.
“You were looking for your family. It was your parents you were looking for but you found out they had died. I’m sorry you have to hear this.”
“No it’s okay.”
We pulled up to the house. It must’ve been her house because she pulled out her keys and unlocked the doors. I walked in and I was shocked to see that there were pictures of us on the wall and on her tables. I turned to her and looked. She could tell I remember a little bit just by taking a glance at the pictures. I walked up to her and hugged her then kissed her on her warm lips.
“I remember you. You were jogging down the street and you walked up and started a conversation with me. You knew that I was a professional wrestler and you were a fan of mine. I asked you out to lunch and you accepted.”
She looked at me and smiled. Tears filled her eyes and ran down her cheek. She tightened the hug and I began tearing a little myself. She looked up at me and kissed me again. Then she started talking.
“You’re right. You are starting to remember a little bit. You don’t know how happy I am that you remember.”
“You don’t know how happy I am right now.”
We shared a laugh and she let go to wipe her eyes. She walked over to a shelf filled with old tapes and DVDs. She picked on out and popped it in the player. After watching a few hours of them, I started remember a little bit about myself.
“So I’ve wrestled legends like Midnight Felon and BBK?”
“Yes and you also defeated them by making them tap with your famous Cobra Clutch hold as you seen on the tapes.”
“Ha, I remember that move. I also remember choking a lot of guys out with that hold.”
“You sure did. But listen though; you’ve got a tag team match coming up soon. You have to concentrate on that or you can’t focus on your in ring abilities.”
“You are right. Where do I begin? All I know is my partner is a zombie and the tag team champions are in the match. I don’t know the other team though.”
“Well your partner has already said a few words. Let me show you what he said.”
She turned on a recorded video from her DVR box and there was a man with ripped jeans and a skeletal based shirt. He talked about the tag team champions, The Final Cut and about zombie movies. He mentioned the other team and their in ring ability. I spoke about this guy.
“My first match back in a ring and I get teamed with a zombie. I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing. I think this guy is pretty funny and cool. I’m hoping he and I can stay on the same page. He looks like he can do some damage so it’s nice having someone like him as a tag team partner.”
“You’re right. Also, one of the opponents said some things but nothing toward you. It was rather an address to his partner. There was nothing important though but pretty short and boring.”
“Well I think I should watch a few more videos. I’d like to get to know who these Night and Daye characters are. Do you have a video of them or any information on them?”
Again I wanted to tell him the truth about Night and Daye but I just couldn’t. He’ll want to join them because they brought him into the business but wanted him to do wrong. I don’t want him to do wrong? I had to give him another lie.
“I’m sorry but there a new team to the roster. I don’t have much on them except they’re the tag team champions.”
“It’s alright. I’ll find out more about them in the ring. One more question, do you know of anyone who could help me get into shape, fill me in on some more of my career, and possibly train me to better myself?”
“Well I do know one person. He’s an old friend of yours. I’ll contact him tomorrow for you. Right now you should get something to eat and take a little break. You just woke up from a serious accident and you’ve no clue who you are.”
“Yea you’re right. As for my match up goes, I want to say I’m looking forward to stepping back into the ring and when I do. I’ll be one hundred percent. Jason Resurrection, POW’s resident zombie, I’m looking forward to teaming with you man.”
The scene starts fading. The last thing we see is Cobra and Cat hugging each other. The cameras have faded to the black screen then shut off.
I heard a knock at my door. I stood up and walked over to the door and opened it. That’s when I suddenly realized that I’m not at home. I don’t know where I am. The man at the door was my doctor. I didn’t know what to say or do, so I waited until he started a conversation with me.
