The scene opens up somewhere in New York, probably Manhattan, with a small kid standing at a newsstand. The kid throws down his hard earned chore money/allowance and walks away with a grape soda and a copy of a special edition of Pro Wrestling Illustrated, PWI, that has a picture of Shawn Stevens holding the POW Heavyweight Title on the cover. The kid gets to a park and squats down onto one of the benches there, opening the soda and the magazine. The kid flips right past the cover story on Shawn Stevens to a small article, crowded in with ads near the back. The primary page has Lance Erickson, standing there, smiling while wearing his "suit".
Lance Erickson: What it's like to be a TRUE Man
by ***** *******
Long past are the days when being a man meant something. Nowadays, people lie, cheat, and steal to victory in the world of Professional Wrestling.
Enter: Lance Erickson. Power On Wrestling's self-proclaimed True Man, and he isn't letting fans down on those promises.
While the Man has a bit of trouble figuring out what looks good in the world of fashion, he knows what he wants and how he wants to get it. In the past, even though this may have come back to bite him, Lance knows his ideals and won't waver for a second. With a chance to be the crowning Television Champion in POW against David DeAngelo at POW's second DVD Taping, All In, Lance charges ahead, staying true to his form.
According to Lance Erickson, the rules are there for a reason and iron-clad. At the March 8th edition of "Road to All In" Lance had his first upset. One of David DeAngelo's 'girls' implanted a stiletto heel into Lance's forehead. Because the referee didn't see it, that tactic solidified the win for DeAngelo. While this would cause someone's resolve to fade, this isn't the case for Lance. "You know, I think all that made me just want to work harder. When I beat him by following these things called 'The Rules' it'll be all that much sweeter for me," he says.
Jake Chaplain, a teacher at a Kansas City High School says that Lance Erickson is one of the nicest and most helpful guys he's ever met. "You wouldn't even know that Lance is a superstar. His fame hasn't gotten to him at all." Chaplain said this in response coming down and visiting his weightlifting class, where he helped out students by giving them motivation and plenty of workout tips. "Even though that's all he had to do, he stayed and taught the class for me that day," Chaplain stated.
High School teachers and students aren't the only people who like Lance's personality. Lance has joined up with the Hunter Brothers and Big Ci to form a group of the most powerful men in POW. The Four Horsemen: Extreme Edition is a group of men who got together with Title aspirations. Lance may not exactly fit into the group on the account of style, he does have more than enough heart and a need for POW gold to be in the 4 Horsemen. Even though, they're all there for support, Lance refuses to help or accept help from his partners because it would mean breaking rules in a major way.
"The only time I would accept help, is if my opponent had somebody down at ringside with the intent of turning it into a handicap match. Then I'd let somebody from my band of brigands come down and run interference, keeping the match how it was supposed to be. That's what the fans want to see, and that's what I want to see," says Lance.
With a title opportunity on the horizon, PWI writer ***** ******* sits down in an interview with Lance.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated: How are you today Mr. Erickson?
Lance Erickson: I'm great. Stevens and I are coming off of a victory at last night's show, but I'd be doing better if you called me 'Lance'.
PWI: Will do. Now, you seem to have a thing going on with David DeAngelo that extends beyond him being your opponent at All In. Care to elaborate?
Lance Erickson: Sure. David is...how do you say it politely? Two-Faced. He's like a politician, Promising one thing, then does another. I was promised no interference, and look what happened. After the incident, I guess Tito though that him and I getting a little grudge going on would be good for business, so he booked us against each other for last night. I'll give Tito this, he's a great business man, we were a huge draw for the company, and I have job security as long as the people start coming.
PWI: You don't mind Tito Capaci using you two for publicity?
Lance Erickson: Not at all. The man has a business to run. We're his supply, and he tries to meet the demand.
PWI: So what's your gameplan for this match? How are you going to get ready for the Titan of Sex?
Lance Erickson: Well, I think the first thing to do is stay the hell out of the way of his women or whatever toyboy he brings down to the ring with him. Other than that, I have a new move for this guy primed and ready. Other than that, I've wrestled him twice now. I'm totally ready for him.
PWI: So what's this new move?
Lance Erickson: Well, I've never seen it used in the pros before if that helps. Other than that I can't tell you any more. It used to be my 'go to' back in college. I pushed it to the side when I got into POW because I had a wider variety of things I'm allowed to do at my disposal. But I guess I'm going back to the basics, trying to get back to my roots of submission and grappling more than the power and devastation that this gorgeous body lets me do. I'm going back to what I completely excel at and dominate my opponents with.
PWI: So, wrapping it up, what would you like to say to DeAngelo, should he read this?
Lance Erickson: I'm looking to beat you completely, buddy. You embarassed me two weeks ago, then Shawn and I whupped you and Danielson last night. I'm looking for a victory that you won't be able to dispute. With those words, I'm not going to pin you. I guarantee you will tap out at All In, the biggest stage Power On Wrestling has had so far. No pins, no count outs, I will make you give up from the pain.

That was the interview from PWI's own ***** *******. Lance Erickson has spoken some bold words that he fully intends to back up at All In. We will have to wait until March 22, 2007 to see if POW's manly nice guy will back up those words and force David DeAngelo to tap out, or if DeAngelo has only shown Lance Erickson the tip of the iceberg with his skill.
