Brock Hoyle is sitting at a $1-2$ limit high-low Omaha table when he notices Greg Kilgreen standing outside the padded rail that acts as a barricade from the game floor to the poker room. Why the poker room isn't considered part of the game floor along with the craps tables, blackjack tables, slots, 3-card poker and so on beats the heck out of Hoyle, but after some years of playing poker in casinos all over the country, he has managed to put that issue aside. He stands up, gathers his chips into his tray and hands them to an attendent who will count them and give him cash after his interview. He walks over to Greg Kilgreen, the top interviewer for POW and Greg gets right into the interview as he signals for the camera to start rolling.
Kilgreen: Brock, thanks for taking the interview on such short notice.
Hoyle: No problem, man. I took the match on short notice. Such things are to be expected.
Kilgreen: Let's talk about that match for a moment. Chester Coban is a guy you are pretty familiar with from your days in the LWE and then a short time in the UWL. Stevens is a guy you have far less knowledge of. What are you thinking about these two men?
Hoyle: Both are extremely talented and I don't think even my partner would deny them that much this week. I do know a lot about Coban. I think I know what makes him tick. I think I have a pretty good idea about where he's coming from and what his particular skills are in the ring. I know what he brings to the table in a tag team. Stevens, you're right. He's a bit different. I don't have the same depth of knowledge, but I've seen lots of film and quite honestly, I'm impressed. He's a pretty much a physical guy with lots of athleticism. Personally, I can't wait to see the POW Heavyweight Title match between him and Rich.
Kilgreen: You're on a first name basis with Rich Morrison, I see. So what's the deal with a nice guy like you teaming up with a bad boy like Rich Morrison?
Brock: That sounded dangerously close to a pick up line, but we'll let it slide The reason I'm helping out Rich is real simple. He played a sizable role in getting my started in pro wrestling and I feel that I owe him for that. He's not the most moral guy in the world or the most upstanding citizen of the wrestling community, but when I owe a debt, I feel like I should pay up. This isn't going to be a long-term partnership. Rich needed a hand, and I extended mine. That's all there is to it.
Kilgreen: You signed a contract with POW after it was too late to get involved in either the POW Heavyweight Title picture of the Valor Title tournament. With that in mind, what are you short term goals here in Power On Wrestling?
Brock: It's become cliche, I know, but really it's all about taking one match at a time in the short term. The long term is the same as everyone else in this company. I want what Shawn Stevens wants, Rich Morrison, Chester Coban, Macros, Victor Bloodmoon and George Duke want. I want that POW Heavyweight Championship belt strapped across my waist.
Kilgreen: Interesting that you mention George Duke, because he's been mentioning you lately.
Brock: The old fart has a man crush on me and I can't figure out why. I've been giving him the cold shoulder from the get-go but he still wants to make it about him and me. He's been telling everyone that he's the one that tore up my leg. Well, The Canadian Power Trip says he did it. Jay T. Nitro was telling people last month that he did it. Hell, they've got me confused me about who tore up my own damn leg!
Kilgreen: Speaking of that knee, how is it?
Brock: I won the UWL The Best of the Super Juniors Tournament in my return, remember? I just had to go through the best three Super Juniors in the UWL to do it. The leg is fine. I'll prove it Thursday night.
Brock smiles and pats Kilgreen on the shoulder before heading back to get his cash from the attendent.
