A local interview camera turns on outside the Star Pavillion At the Ameristar Casino, a familiar face to many of the POW wrestlers stands in the screen. Unshaved with bags under his eyes the former interviewer for the Universal Wrestling League, Kip Anderson, had been taking work wherever he shall find it of late. Today on the other hand he had been contacted by a man from his past, a manager to be precise, the same manager whom had caused him so much grief in his previous place of work. Kip half heartedly smiles into the camera as he prepares to address whoever would possibly be watching, the wind whips the side of his face sending his hair flying about.
Kip Anderson: Ladies and Gentlemen I’m Kip Anderson here, reporting live from the Star Pavillion. Within hours the good people of Kansas City shall be entertained with the first DVD Taping from up-rising wrestling promotion, Power On Wrestling. In just moment I shall have the…pleasure…of conducting an interview with POW wrestler Macros and of course his manager Riley.
In fact I believe they have arrived on the scene right now…
The camera swivels around to see the formidable manager Riley walking across the car park to their location, with wrestler Macros following in foot. The two come to rest beside Kip, the manager Riley greets Kip Anderson with a shake of his hand, an act which he had never done in the past. Kip just frowns as he turns back to the camera.
Kip Anderson: Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce to you firstly to my right and dressed formally in his nice suit is Riley, of course the man standing beside him is POW wrestler Macros.
Riley nods into the lens of the camera as Macros just stares into the darkness, not really caring for his situation.
Riley: Ya it’s nice to see ya again Kip, ya no folks me and Kip here go back a little way. In fact I think I happened to cause him some grief in interviews back in the old days of Universal Wrestling League. But anyway we move on with our lives, I see Kip has a good job on his hands here.
Kip Anderson: Well actually Riley I do not believe that this interview is about the working of my life, in fact I believed this was about the Power On Wrestling.
Riley: Yeah of course it is, the Power On Wrestling that’s right, well firstly folks if ya haven’t heard of the promotion of late then it is obvious that ya must be deaf or had lost ya ears in the Vietnam war or something cause this place is going bananas. The amount of talent in wrestling and promo skills is absolutely outstanding, not to mention just some of the names in which the promotion has acquired and can showcase.
Tito Capaci. The promoter and head man ya know. Oh don’t give me any looks of discomfort or confusion Kip; ya know who I’m taking about. This man ladies and gentle is a former UWC Champion and UWL Champion, former man whom remained undefeated in the UWL for months on end. Now of course the great grappler has now turned his wrestling career towards that of booking the matches and running his own promotion right here in the heart of Kansas City, and ya know he’s damn well good at it. Tito Capaci has brought his business skills into the wrestling promotion to only see it rise to greatness; of course some may speculate that the promotion hasn’t been underway for that long but I say it rivals the days of the former Universal Wrestling League. Now I’m not kissing up to the boss here, and ya know I don’t go that way Kip, but I am going to say that Tito Capaci has a way for business. That Tito Capaci has put together a terrific promotion in the form of POW and I would take my hat off to him if I was wearing one.
Shawn Stevens. The first on my list of the great wrestlers that has been recruited to the POW, ya should know Shawn to, after all he was the youngster whom become the UWL Champion and raised that company to greatness before even Tito Capaci had come along. The man put the word sensational into the UWL; he was one of the men that built the foundation of what that great company ended up accomplishing in our world of professional wrestling. Now of course Stevens is moving on to conquer more stages of wrestling, competing tonight in the first ever POW Championship match. Competing tonight for the chance to call himself the best in the promotion and to carry the name of Power On Wrestling around the world into the homes of thousands.
Reck Maverick. If you said that the Power On Wrestling lacked entertainment then it is obvious that you have not seen the class and felt the hilariousness which is Reck Maverick, the ninja that serves for the POW…for a price of course. Ya know Reck Maverick is a legend in the ring, especially in the league of tag teams…in fact I believe that Maverick has not been in a promotion yet which he has not held the tag team belt once.
Ya see Kip, this place has everything going for it. Along with those men there are plenty of others which I have lacked the time to speak of, George Duke, Rich Morrison, Chester Coban, Jay T. Nitro…the list but continues. Such is why tonight; First Rights shall stand as a pinnacle of entertainment in this very city. First Rights shall start the bench mark in performance which you can expect from the Power On Wrestling, if ya have not already seen us then I must urge ya to get down here and purchase your ticket for next weeks Road to All In.
Riley pulls away from the microphone and points towards the Ameristar Casino as if edging all watching to be their in attendance next week.
Kip Anderson: Well ladies and gentlemen you have now been given the introduction to Power On Wrestling by a manger in their services, now stay tuned for more great programs coming up…
Riley interrupts the interviewer by placing his hand over the microphone, Kip looks at the man with a pleading look hoping that the night and his rate of employment could not be spoilt within minutes of air time.
Riley: Ay man you’re not finished yet, after all promoting POW was not the reason why we called ya here today. Ya see Kip it so happens that ya the only man in which my client Macros Vitruvious is willing to interview with, unfortunately he states that the POW interviewers do not have the credentials or honour to conduct and interview the way ya can.
Kip Anderson smiles meaningful for the first time, the comment seem to pull the darkness from his face leaving it shining with glee. Riley on the other hand is frowning as that legendary look of disgust seems to be forming across his face.
Riley: Ya see Kip we so happen to be in a match tonight, my client seemed to feel that it was necessary for him to conduct an interview, even though I clearly stated that it was fine for I to do it. So as it seems that ya are the only man to interview him in the past, plus the only man he states is worthy of such a privilege I have called ya here.
Riley is fuming with anger as he just frowns at Kip, the thought of not being able to conduct and interview distastes the manager of any kindness he had towards the interviewer. Riley steps back into the shadows, the though of possibly getting some statement in at a later date in his mind as the wrestler known simply as Macros steps up along side the interviewer. Kip Anderson now has his business face on, obviously excited that he is getting this opportunity to interview a wrestler once more and possible get his foot back into the door of a wrestling promotion.
Kip Anderson: Well Macros of course I must admit that I have still been keeping up with the world of professional wrestling, but I must admit that their may still be some rust around these vocal cords.
The camera turns towards the wrestler as he prepares to respond, the wind seems to stop as if it to can not believe the wrestler is to speak.
Macros: Alas Kip it shall be fine for my needs, I understand that you have been forced to be hired by these second rate people. Obviously they have not been using your skills to the capabilities of which they once stood at.
Kip Anderson: Damn straight they…anyway moving on. As I said Macros I must admit that I have seen little of your performances or in fact any promotion after the closer of the UWL. But I do believe I am familiar with the line-up for the POW DVD Taping First Rights, if I understand correct you have been drawn into a Triangle Match against the likes of Lance Erickson and Big Ci.
Macros: That is correct.
Kip Anderson: Well would you rather expand on that a bit, after all both competitors have had sentences to say about you and your manager here Riley. In fact I believe that one of the larger problems between the three of you actually is the presence of your manager Riley, whether that is a verbal presence or physical I believe Riley has gotten under some nerves.
Macros takes a slight glance at his manger before turning back to the microphone.
Macros: Perhaps that is what he wishes to do, after all a manager of excellence shall do what ever it takes to get the victory. Such is a common trade we both happen to share. Alas I shall be honest and say his mouth may get him into trouble at times, but does that not happen to the better of us. Perhaps it is not Riley whom is talking to much, perhaps it is the likes of Lance Erickson and Big Ci whom obviously have taken offence to the more little of things and taken their eyes of the true objective of this night.
Big Ci himself has especially been hurt by the mouth of my manager, actually stating that I should be weary of my own manager, that Riley is riding on my wave of success just ready to betray me at any minute. How utterly stupid do you believe I am. I am quit aware on the methods to spot a traitor in my mist. I am also quit aware on the performance and mind of my own manager. I understand he is not the loyal of type, I understand that he is a weasel and will one day betray me.
The camera turns to the manger who looks shocked and taken aback at the comments from his own wrestler
Macros: Of course I am aware that his betrayal will one day come; the greed lies in the heart of every man like a lion. Gradually getting stronger until the day, in which it can not stay inside anymore, to the day in which it pounces at those whom were once friends. I am quit aware of the greed which is situated inside the heart of my client, just as much as I am aware of the loyalty which strongly battles that take over of greed.
Riley is a loyal man that I know is certain, to this day he has road my wave of success watching me accomplish tasks of greatness. But you can not say that such a wave has not helped his career, as I have walked my path of destiny I have shared every moment with this man, I have shared ever bask of glory of stardom with the likes of this man. You do not doubt that he got his catchphrase the manager of champions for nothing do you, such a phrase was created throughout the companies we travelled together winning the championships which were offered to our grasps. I shall state this only once, such acts to try and split me from my manager and destroy the legion which we have constructed shall never work. All that you have said I am already aware of, in fact I am also aware that this man would be nothing without the career he has moulded when finding the talent which is myself.
This man took me from a desert town lost and outcaste from the other, this was the man that was able to see that which could be possible in the future with the right training and devotion. This version of Riley was not the one you see here today, alas he was broken and defeated with each and ever attempt at raising a star was only met with week after week of defeat and hardship as that star only began to fall. Before he was the manager of the legion soldier he had many a client big and small, wrestlers of power and wrestlers of speed. But unfortunate it was that none had the success in which I have found, he had not accomplished anything with another wrestler close to the benchmark in performance I offer every night. When finding me Riley had nought but dust in his wallet, the same small mini which he drives today was running on nothing but a drop of what you shall call fuel. But today after months of competition you shall look at him now, with spare change in his wallet and a respectable appearance you can see how far he has come.
Riley puts his hand on the shoulder of his client, obviously that percentage of loyalty which was talked of before has fought whatever anger may have risen in his heart. The manger smile at his client as Kip Anderson continues.
Kip Anderson: So Riley has become rich on your professional wresting career, after all that is what Lance Erickson believes.
Macros: Rich, it depends what your meaning of the word rich would be. Of course f you stated that he and I were rich in money then it is obvious you are wrong, my manger has enough change to spare but only the change for the charge to park a car at the arena. We do not have the luxury of a home, in fact I can not remember the last time we actually bunked in a home we called our own. As many of the competitors in our past shall know we only travel with our companies, here in Kansas City we only hold a month rent on a small apartment down town. So he states that our own lives depends on the pay check in which we get for our performances, so rich men we are not.
For all we have is the friendship in which we hold between the two of us, the loyalty and trust we currently have. Come the start of First Rights and the introduction of our names, you shall understand the bond in which we have constructed, you shall understand the verdict all competitors come to witness. Together the team of the legion soldier and his manager is and will remain unbeatable.
Macros looks into the camera as he turns his back walking towards the arena and his locker room, unknown to him Big Ci his competitors had been present in his room mere moments before. Riley on the other hands smiles at Kip Anderson as his wrist and watch is raised to his eye level.
Riley: Ya know I couldn’t help but notice that we still hade some time left for me to get some statements off my chest. Firstly Big Ci was right I suppose, I have been trying to get under the skin of both competitors. But ya know with every little threat that I get from my clients opponents it only raises my confidence that my client shall come out victorious, you both have seen that he completely trust me…which of course he should for I have done nothing but help him along the way time and time again. I’m going to be down to earth with ya here Kip, every word Macros stated was the truth, without his partnership not even a single person would today know my name.
But ya see I do not need to betray my colleague, for when we march to that ring each and every fan is not only cheering for my client but also for the skills in which they know I have. Actually I would go as far as saying I was the best damn manager in which both the UWL and POW has seen, not that old fart who trains Victor Bloodmoon nor the women that follows Reck Maverick around…but me Riley. For as the manager of champions I give myself full permission to say and do what ever I damn well please whenever I damn well please to undertake it, this is the attitude that leaves the imprint of my client and myself in the heads of each and every legion fan in the crowd tonight.
Kip Anderson: so you are not taking any notice from Big Ci or Lance Erickson both of whom are professional wrestlers and both of whom are looking to take you out if they get the chance.
Riley leans to one side as he places his hands on his hips.
Riley: Ya can guarantee that is exactly what I’m saying, as I said in my last POW interview and I’m happy to repeat myself time and time again if they can not understand it. I am the manager of the most dominant wrestler in the Power On Wrestling roster. The manager of the man who IS submission wrestling at it’s finest. The man whom is called the legion soldier for the obvious reason. Appius Macros Vitruvious!!!
Now if ya so happen to even double the average of stupidity of which I believe both of ya have, then ya will come after me and try and beat me up. Well let me tell ya now I am quit happy to take one for the team so to speak, for just as stupid as it is to wrestle against my client with an injury it is just as stupid to turn your back on the man. Be my guest and bring your 300 pound frame, for when ya do my client shall capitalise in that split second and eliminate an competitor.
Kip Anderson: So are you telling me that you have no problem in interfering in the match, I mean Big Ci has already called off his connections.
Riley: Kip both ya and I know that just due to the fact that he has called off his hound I won’t be backing down. My job description is to help my client in anyway possible that is which makes be the greatest of managers in my league, so if it so happens that I have to interfere then I wont hesitate for a split second.
But of course it is already simple enough; I have faith in my client’s abilities to claim the victory alone. Big Ci may claim that in the past he was eliminated by Victor Bloodmoon while competing for the Southeastern Championship in a Battle Royal, but the point of the matter is that my client was capable to eliminate Victor Bloodmoon hence winning the match and hence beating ya. Lance Erickson may claim he has confidence in himself, but deep down even he knows he can not stand against the ravishing skills which my client has stored away yet to use. Yet has my client used the Roman Salute his basic finisher but long perfected. Yet has my client had the pleasure to lock a victim in the Vitruvious Claw V1 or V2 the move which has been passed throughout the generations of his family. Yet ya have the nerve to call yourself the most evil submission wrestler I have ever seen, though of course you have barely shown a glimmer of submission or the force to claim victory.
Let it be known that when my client claims victory, oh victory he will claim, you shall return to ya locker room to pity in what could have been. But do not think highly of ya talent enough to step up to my client and extend your hand in friendship, friendship is something in which my client does not look for on the battlefield. Shall ya extend ya hand all ya will find is pain as I command my legion soldier to bring his full physical capabilities to the canvas and burry you into the ground.
Riley looks intensely into the camera pushing the microphone from his face, he looks at the face of Jip Anderson before turning around and making his way back to the casino and his client who can be seen waiting at the entrance.
Kip Anderson: Wow…ladies and gentlemen POW’s first DVD Taping, First Rights, shall be getting underway in a matter of hours now. In fact maybe I should be looking at a job with the promotion, since it is looking to become so promising.
A look of thought crosses the face of the manager as the camera starts to fade out into and advert for this week’s episode of Family Guy.
Kip Anderson: Ladies and Gentlemen I’m Kip Anderson here, reporting live from the Star Pavillion.
