The scene opens in a small quaint little TV studio setup. In one chair sits the apparent host of the show wearing a light purple button up shirt and casual black slacks. He has short cut hair and and glasses. The show is coming back from a commercial as the theme song fades down. There is an empty chair across from him and the St. Louis skyline in the background. The host begins the segment of the show by raising both index fingers trying to quiet down the live audience.
Host: Ladies and gentlemen welcome back to my new daytime show, Andy in the Afternoon only found right here in the tristate area of Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri. Of course I am Andy. This show will focus on the many goings on around the area that we are broadcasted. From theater, to high school sports, and of course the professional level. For my next guest, I have what some might call a local celebrity, others may call a country-wide star, and few even call a world-wide legend. He is professional wrestler, and Power On Wrestling Midwestern Heavyweight Champion, "Sensational" Shawn Stevens.
The audience starts clapping and cheering as Shawn Stevens comes walking out from the left side of the set. He is in a crisp black suit with a green shirt under the jacket. He has his hair tied back into a ponytail. The POW Midwestern Heavyweight Championship folded in his arms. He walks towards Andy and shakes his hand. Then he sits in the empty chair and lays the championship belt across his lap.
Andy: Welcome Shawn, glad to have you here.
Shawn: Good to be here Andy.
Andy: Well, Shawn let's cut right to business. We all know you are in Power On Wrestling's Midwest territory and as we can see you hold the Heavyweight Championship belt. This coming week on POW Television you will be facing the Heavyweight Champion of POW's other territory New England. His name is....
Andy looks down at the paper in his hand trying to find a name.
Shawn: JR Zevon.
Andy: Right right. Well I guess the obvious question is what is going through your mind on this momentous occasion?
Shawn: Everyone always asks the easy ones....
Stevens laughs it off and Andy joins in.
Shawn: Well I guess since that was the question, I guess the same thoughts as I go through before every match. Zevon may be the Eastern Heavyweight Champion, but he just won that belt a couple weeks back. I have held this championship that is in my hands since February. My whole career I have had everyone want a piece of me thinking they can shut me up and prove me wrong. Hell even had a screwjob done to me because Teddy Davis was pissed that I was UWL Heavyweight Champion and he couldn't live with that. But I realized since being POW Midwestern Heavyweight Champion that there are hundreds and hundreds of Teddy Davises. They go under many names. Rich Morrison, Danny Danielson, George Duke, Midnight Felon......they all say the exact same thing. They never take into account my background, or how I excell in every match I'm in, or the fact that I hold the championships that I win in such high reguard that I will do anything to keep them. They always bitch and moan.....
Andy: Uh....the FCC won't like that....
Shawn: How about piss and moan? Does that work?
Andy nods accepting that.
Shawn: They all piss and moan about how I'm everything they hate, how I'm a paper champion, how I politicked my way to the title, et cetera et cetera......its the EXACT same thing from all of them. But when the bell rings at the end of the match who's standing tall? Now we have Zevon coming from another territory wanting to come into my home and push me around? I already sent Felon into a downward spiral. He better hope the same doesn't happen to him.
Andy: You said people always make excuses about you but do you think that is because they are jealous?
Stevens chuckles and shakes his head.
Shawn: No, if anyone is jealous in this business then they won't go far. You have to know how good you are. If you think you're better then you truly are then when you lose, its a huge disappointment and sometimes very shattering to one's ego, for example Midnight Felon. He and his boys challenged me for weeks by putting me through tables in four on one attacks, so I give him what he wants. Two weeks in a row his ego was put in its place. He was having one hell of a time beating on the new guys and getting in his cheap shots on the veterans to win his matches, but just like I said, take away his friends and he's nothing. Now he's on a three match losing streak and I hear close to getting fired. Along with his buddy BBK who hasn't even shown up in that long. But he's better than me obviously. He only lost cause I sweet talk with management and yadda yadda yadda. If he's out the door soon I say good riddence. We don't need any more whining pansies in POW, we have Rich Morrison....one is plenty....trust me.
Andy: Well do you consider Zevon a threat? Or even the lumberjacks that will be around the ring, that's quite a few people who might want to make a statement.
Shawn: I'll give Zevon the benefit of the doubt. No one predicted him to become the champion over there. So to prove everyone wrong and get the gold. I really can't argue with that cause I've done it all my career. But when I see he calls himself the Patron Saint of Wrestling....then I worry.....but from a tale of the tape standpoint, this one can be a very even match. So it should be interesting to see what outside factors decide to play or just let us have a match and the best man win.
Andy: Shawn, sorry for the interuption but we have to take a commercial break. So any last words?
Shawn: Check your local listings for when POW is broadcasted in your area. Or come check us out yourself if you live in our area or we come to yours. You won't be disappointed. Andy, thanks for having me.
Andy: Anytime Shawn. Thanks for coming.
The two men shake hands as Stevens gets up and raises his championship belt into the air with his right hand and does his signature pose with the left arm.
Andy: Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear it for SHAWN STEVENS! When we come back Saint Louis Rams Quarterback, Marc Bulger.
The crowd cheers for the Midwestern Heavyweight Champion as he walks off screen and the scene fades to black.
