:: The scene opens outside a Wall-mart store somewhere in Kentucky. A crowd is gathered because it is the stores grand-opening. A stage has been erected with a microphone on a stand and a smartly dressed gentleman, presumably the manager, stands behind it. The crowd turn their attention to the stage as the manager speaks.
Store manager: Hello Ladies and Gentlemen… you’ve all been waiting very patiently but now is the time that you have all been waiting for, because now to officially open up this branch of Wall-mart, is a star of local wrestling promotion Power On Wrestling and number one contender, I believe, to the POW Valor championship, is it… yes the Valor championship. He is “The Incomparable” Big Ci.
:: We get a mixed reaction from the crowd as Big Ci walks on to the stage. He stands next to the manager, who has produced a pair of scissors. The two men shake hands and exchange pleasantries before the manager speaks again.
SM: Well, welcome Ci, thank you for being here today.
Big Ci: Good to be here.
SM: Have you had chance to look around the store yet today.
BC: I have… and I have to say that there is a great variety of products in there available for purchase.
SM: Great… well I guess we may as well get on with the matter in hand. If I may I’d like to ask you to come over to the door with me and cut the red ribbon and officially open the store.
BC: It’d be my pleasure.
:: The store manager hands Ci the scissors and a few photographers gather round. Ci cuts the ribbon and the crowd applaud politely. The manager goes back onto the stage as does Ci. The manager speaks once more.
SM: Ok Ladies and Gentlemen, now you can browse the store but first our special guest will be happy to take questions from the press and the public so I’ll turn you over to him. Ladies and Gentlemen, Big Ci.
:: He hands the microphone to Big Ci.
BC: OK… who’s first?
:: A female journalist puts her hand up
BC: Yes…
Female Journalist: Yes Ci, I was just wondering for your thoughts on the emergence of the new POW subsidiary; POW: New England
BC: Well I think that it is great. A new territory opens up all sorts of new possibilities. Remember WWE started as one tiny promotion. Before you knew it, it was buying up all sorts of regional promotions and then we arrive at today and there is one great super-power still reigning above all else… just not for too much longer once POW gets its tail in gear.
Who knows? Maybe soon there’ll be a dozen promotions under the POW banner. All the may from here to Europe. We are at the dawn of a new golden age in pro-wrestling… and POW is leading the way.
OK… next question
:: A gentleman with a dicta-phone puts his hand up.
BC: Yes sir… the gentlemen in the pink shirt
Man with Dictaphone in pink shirt: Thank you, I was just wondering if you had any comment on either of your main event matches coming up in the next fortnight, either for New England against Flying Diamond Cutter Man, or for Midwest, for the Valor Championship… against George Duke.
BC: Both of those matches I am extremely looking forward to… my match with FDCM I especially look forward to because he is an undefeated world’s heavyweight champion. Two promotions have closed down without him losing his title… that means that he is one hell of a phenomenal talent in my book. When I go into that POW New England show on the 15th of April and I stare across at Flying Diamond Cutter Man, what will ensue will be one of the highlights of my career.
But I’m not gonna say that I am gonna get too star-struck when it comes to FDCM. He is, as I have said, one of the best in the game… but I’m gonna be looking to take him out of the game. Despite how great, how mighty… he thinks he is, no matter how good he is… I wanna prove that I am better… and I intend to.
But of course… before I get to that New England show… this week I take on my good buddy… George Duke. Last week George and I exchanged a few words prior to our eight man tag team match. Stuff was said… feelings were hurt… Bottom line is I pinned his ass in the centre of the ring. This week will be no different bar one thing. This week when I pin his ass… regardless of what has been said before… I take his title away from him, and carry it on my shoulder… with the extreme title on my other shoulder. Like it… don’t like it… no matter… 'cause it’s gonna happen. Next question;
:: A member of the general public (male) raises his hand. He is youngish, early 20’s.
BC: Yes sir…
Guy: I was just wondering if you had any comments on what happened last week to Shane Hunter…
:: There is silence for a few moments…
BC: … I think that’s enough questions for now. If any of you are interested I will be signing autographs and taking photos over here (he points off stage) for about an hour so feel free to come over and I’ll try and do as many as I can.
:: Big Ci walks off the stage flashing a glance back at the guy that asked the Shane Hunter question as the scene fades out.
:: End of Scene
:: Blackout
~Break~
:: The scene re-opens still at the store opening. Some of the crowd have dispersed either looking around the store itself or making use of the amusements and activities laid on. A large proportion of them, though… has gathered in a line, surrounded by metal barricades. They are queuing for Big Ci’s autograph. The camera cuts to Big Ci’s table. We hear Greg Kilgreen’s voice from behind camera.
Greg Kilgreen: Ci, could we just get a few words from you regarding a few things?
Big Ci: (Mildly sarcastically) Well Greg… it’s always a pleasure… talking to you
Greg: Great… well I was just wondering what your thoughts are on your up coming match, for the Valor Championship… against George Duke?
Big Ci: Well… I have a lot of thoughts in regard to the match this week. On one hand I could go out to the ring on Thursday night and win the biggest match of my career, taking the Valor title and representing this company and the Four Horsemen: XE better than ever before.
On the other hand I could go out to that ring and have my arse handed to me, which is very possible. You see because George Duke is a very tough individual. What makes that worse… is that he’s angry. He’s angry at the fact that I beat him last week. I pinned George Duke’s shoulders to the mat for the three-count and he, not surprisingly… is unhappy about it. Now people might be thinking…well… “You’ve beaten him once… just do it again.” Well, it really isn’t that simple, you see George Duke didn’t really have anything to lose last week, with the exception of a little bit of pride, which again, doesn’t bode well for yours truly because if there’s one thing I know really pisses of Duke, it’s having his pride tainted.
But when you add on to that, the fact that this match is for his title… you know that he will do whatever it takes to keep hold of that belt.
But what cannot be argued is the effect that taking the Valor title will have on my career. If I come out of this match a winner then I walk out a champion as well. It is that, that keeps me going.
Because I represent myself and the horsemen every time I go out to the ring, I want to make an impression. What better impression to make than walking out champion. That is the impression I will make this week.
Greg: OK Ci… on another note… do you have any comment on what took place last week with regard to the attack on Shane Hunter?
:: Ci goes back to signing autographs
Greg:… I said do you ha…
:: Big Ci interrupts
Big Ci: I heard what you said… and unless you want to be put through another wall then I suggest you don’t say it again
Greg: But Ci…
Big Ci: I mean it Greg
Greg: OK, well I’ll let you get back to your autographs. Is it OK if the camera stays.
Big Ci:… Yeah sure
Greg: OK… see you
:: Big Ci goes back to signing autographs.
Big Ci: OK… who should I make this one out to?
Girl: To Jenny please
Big Ci: OK Jenny… there you are… who’s next?.. OK and who’s this to.
Young Boy: Put to Zak… my number one fan
:: Big Ci looks up
Big Ci: (Smiling) OK Zak… here you go… and if you and your mom go with this guy here (he beckons one of the store staff)… we’ll see if we can get you a POW T-shirt on me… OK… good enjoy your Day… Yes sir next
Male voice: Put… “To Shane… In your hospital bed…”
:: Ci looks up at the man who looks down on him with distain
:: Big Ci stands up and locks eyes with the man, who is about twenty
Big Ci: (Loudly) OK ladies and Gentlemen… I’m afraid I can’t do anymore autographs… I have to go and train. There are some already signed pictures at the customer service desk inside if you want one. Sorry I can’t stay longer.
:: To the man in front of him;
Look… I’m sorry for what happened to Shane, I really am. But it happened… get over it. I’m sure he will.
:: Big Ci attempts to leave but the guy gets in his face
Guy: But how could you just stand there and watch those two attack him like that?
Big Ci: You think I don’t feel bad about that? You think I don’t wish that there could have been some other way? But there wasn’t… we needed him out and this was the best way
:: The guy grabs hold of Ci’s arm
Guy: The best way?
:: Security rush to pull him off…
Big Ci: It’s alright… leave him…
:: Security back off and the guy lets go…
Big Ci: The fact of the matter is that he’s done, through, finished. And with or without him, the horsemen will continue… live with it.
Guy: You know there was a time when I looked up to you… not anymore… you make me sick
:: The guy walks away… Big Ci looks on as the scene fades
:: Black out
:: End of scene
