:: The scene opens in the Michaels 8th avenue ballroom, which is packed with fans. The ring is empty, except for a ring attendant who is wiping the ropes down. “Out to get me” hits the speaker system and Big Ci walks from behind the curtain. He is taken aback by the fact that he is being cheered again, despite his diatribe earlier in the week. He is wearing a POW T-shirt and black pants. He walks down the ramp as fans in the front row extend their hands. Apprehensively, Ci accepts the hands, fearing they maybe pulled away after what he said about the fans and the arena. They are not.
He proceeds to roll into the ring and takes a microphone ringside. He walks back to the centre of the ring. He speaks.
Big Ci: I was wrong. Earlier this week I said that this place was a shit hole… but I was wrong. I was wrong about something else as well. I said to everyone in that arena the other night, that was gonna be walking out as the Valor champion… I didn’t. You see George Duke dropped me on my head last night. He dropped me down hard with a piledriver and he beat my ass…
Fans: (Chanting) You were cheated…… You were cheated
No, no, no, no, no. You see even though George Duke tapped like a little bitch…
:: The fans clap
No even though he tapped, the referee didn’t see it. That means that he didn’t lose. And it was my fault that I fell for that trick… ‘cause Mick McManus used to do it all the time. But you see in my mind it is a blessing in disguise that I lost that match to George Duke. It is a blessing because I know for a fact… that had I won that match and that belt I would have come out here and I would’ve been an absolute prick. Well actually I would’ve been a prick… with a belt…
…Speaking of pricks with belts… on to Flying Diamond Cutter Man. Now when I was part of the Universal Wrestling League, I used to watch FDCM… I used to watch him and I’d think I wanna be like that someday… I want to be a champion like Flying Diamond Cutter Man… I want to be just like him. And do you now what… last night I accomplished that... last night I was just like Flying Diamond Cutter man. Because last night… after I lost to George Duke… I went drinking with the Horsemen and I had o be carried out of the bar…
The crowd cheers
… no, I’m only playing, FDCM. You see I was just like you at the start of the week. At the start of the week I turned my back, or at least tried to turn my back on what got me where I am today. You see you have tried to turn your back on this company, telling everyone you don’t want to be here. You wanna come out to this ring and you wanna complain about having to perform in front of these people. Well just like you FDCM, earlier this week I said that I didn’t want to do things for the fans… I said that I was turning my back on the fans… I tried to tell the fans to kiss my ass… but now… now I see that I was wrong.
The crowd cheers louder
Now I see that. Now I see how wrong I was. And how fitting is it, Flying Diamond Cutter Man, that I walk into this place on Sunday night…I walk into a Ballroom because this Sunday night, FDCM… I will be “dancing with what brung me”. I will be walking to this ring, and even though I am a Horseman, even though the fans hate my partner’s guts, even though I said what I said earlier this week… I will be coming to this ring and I will be doing my best to win this match for the fans
The crowd cheers louder than they have all night.
And as I’m talking a lot about what I have said before… let’s take a look see… at what you have said this week.
You see FDCM you wanna come out here and do your little Gillberg bit, with you sparkles and you girls. You wanna walk down to this ring and you wanna tell me what it means to be a champion. Well I put it to you FDCM that you are not a champion. You see you may have the belt that says championship on it, but that means nothing unless you display the right qualities. That means representing every part of the world to every other part of the world. That means representing Albuquerque, New Mexico all the way down in Sydney Australia… it means representing Birmingham, New Hampshire in Birmingham, England… it means representing Glen Burnie, Maryland…
The crowd erupt with the cheapest of pops
… in Tokyo, Japan. But Flying Diamond Cutter Man doesn’t think like that. He thinks he is above venues like this… above companies like this. But FDCM remember… without places and venues like this… there would be no Madison Square Garden, no Joe Louis Arena, no Manchester Evening News arena… Without venues like this, like the Hammerstein Ballroom, like the Liverpool Olympia in Liverpool, England then there would be no 30,000 seat arenas. Without venues and companies like this… there would be no Flying Diamond Cutter Man. Because like you said, you come from round here… but you left, similarly I will leave this place on Sunday night… and I will leave it having beaten you. You say that I am clever… I say you’re right… but you see… you are the one that used all the big words when you stood in this ring. You are the one that used words like; “Eminent”, “Prestige”, “Plateau”… well I say to you Flying Diamond Cutter Man… that you need only concern yourself with three other words… “Kicking”… “Your”… and “Ass” because I will be kicking your ass live and in living colour… right here Glen Burnie, Maryland…
Another cheap-ass pop from the crowd
… so Flying Diamond Cutter Man… I will see you on Sunday night… and I’ll whoop your ass into the bargain… Big Ci… over and out.
Ci drops the mic and slides out of the ring. He high fives the entire front row and then heads up the ramp. As he reaches the top he turns and raises his arms again. He has a beaming smile on his face. He is being true to himself and true to the fans.
Scene fades out
