The scene opens showing the skyline of the windy city from a helicopter. Sailboats on Lake Michigan. The feris wheel at Navy Pier. The Sears Tower. Solider Field. The Shedd Aquarium and Planetarium. And home of the White Sox, US Cellular Field. It fades into the streets on the south side of the city, showing Shawn Stevens walking alone. He is in dark blue jeans, a zipped up leather jacket, and the trademarked green banada and green chrome framed sunglasses. The sun is setting between the homes and businesses as Stevens stops outside a broken down box shaped building. Peeking out the top of his shades, he pauses and faces the camera.
Shawn: Roots, history, where one comes from. George Duke felt the need to explain himself to me. Where he came from, his family, the reasons he is a liar, cheater and swindler. A interesting story George. But if you wanna talk roots, and why we are what we are.......welcome to my city.....my home.....my roots......its where I learned how to be a Heavyweight Champion......
Stevens pushes the door open and enters the building. Its the familiar building from two months ago. Four wrestling rings are set up. On the far wall hangs a banner that says Windy City Wrestling. In the closest ring is a small box shaped piece of cloth sitting on a table. Obviously something is hidden under the sheet. Stevens walks towards that ring and climbs in. He removes his sunglass and stuffs them into his pocket. He unzips his leather jacket and puts it on one of the turnbuckles. He is wearing a "Triple S" shirt from the early days of POW, only three months ago.
Shawn: If a backstory is what you want, then that's what you'll get. Two months ago I showed this building to Rich Morrison. The week before I beat his ass for the POW Heavyweight Championship. This is where I was brought up. Where I was trained to be the best in the world BY the best in the world. We didn't need money, we didn't need fancy long winded backstories about why we called ourselves whatever. Windy City Wrestling took anyone who was willing to work hard to make something of themselves. Being as my brother started it, I probably had the easiest way in. But still had I not been the brother of Jay T. Nitro I STILL would have busted my ass as long as it would take until I reached the pinnacle of this sport. It didn't take long. Months after my debute.....I achieved that goal.
Stevens lifts the sheet to reveal a glass case containing the old UWL Heavyweight Championship title belt. He lifts up the glass and picks the belt up.
Shawn: The first YEAR of my career old man, hell the first four months if you wanna be technical. How long did it take for you to finally capture a major championship? How many years? Decades? No one seems to grasp that fact. Everyone over looks me and sees my youthful and supposed inexperience when it comes to big matches. But when it comes down to the breaking point, who has been victorious. ONE blemish on my career. Losing the UWL Heavyweight Championship, a minor thing. The circumstances were......not in my favor. But that didn't matter. I worked my way back to the top, and three weeks before I was given a title shot the company shut down. So what happened? Did I give up? Retire at the young age of 19? No, I came to Power On Wrestling and immediatly was given a spot to crown the new POW Heavyweight Champion.
Stevens lifts another sheet to reveal his POW Heavyweight Championship laying on the table. He puts the UWL Heavyweight Championship back in its case and replaces the glass. He lifts the POW Heavyweight Championship and sets it on his shoulder as it is normally seen.
Shawn: Of course we all know how that turned out. Rich Morrison and I fought our way to the final match. He actually suprised me. Gave me a run for my money. But in the end, I won my second Heavyweight Championship. Two within my first year of being known as a "professional". Yet I'm still called a rookie by some. How many rookies can say they won two major championships in their first year of their career? None come to mind. Flying Diamond Cutter Man, the so called REAL World Champion.....Tito Capaci, our wonderful boss.....Rich Morrison, self proclaimed pain in the ass......Reck Maverick, Ninja Hero.......or even you George Duke, the next name in the line to try and take this belt from me. Its not even the first time we met Duke. Or did you try and block that from your mind. You had your chance to beat me in a nontitle match and I won. You think your advange is controlling the match? Who controlled the last one?
Stevens gets a large grin from ear to ear.
Shawn: Your so called experience and skill really didn't help you last time. What makes this time different? You beat Big Ci, congrats. That is quite an accomplishment. Ci is one hell of a competitor, and no disrespect to him, but he is no Shawn Stevens, he is no Heavyweight Champion. It really is a shame that after all this time of me being on the top of two companies that people still think I am inexperienced. Sure I run my mouth, but who doesn't in this business. People can't help but mention my name. I heard our "wonderous" tag team champions can't help but mention me and my brother. It's not a suprise. And I don't blame anyone for mentioning me, good or bad. This title means I am the best in the company. No one has yet to beat me for it, and things aren't gonna change at Spring Breakage. Just one more veteran added to the list of people who've thought that they could take down the inexperienced rookie champion.
Stevens grabs his leather jacket and exits the ring with his POW Heavyweight Championship belt still slung over his shoulder. He walks towards the door that he entered through. He stops and wraps the Championship around his waist, then procedes to put on his jacket and zip it back up.
Stevens: So just for you Duke, I will shine this belt up. However not to give it to you. But rather to show you what a true champion does when a challenge is presented. Prepare however you normally do old man. Break out the Geritol and Centrium take your vitamins and supplements. I'm going to remain the POW Midwest Heavyweight Champion because of my youth, my EXPERIENCE, my speed, flash and glamour, my style......but most of all because I am SIMPLY SENSATIONAL!
Stevens flips the lights off in the building as he walks back out onto the streets of the windy city. The scene fades to black as Stevens locks the door and walks away.
