The scene fades in as a young woman sits in front of a television set with a DVR remote in her hand. She raises the remote and presses what appears to be the rewind button, because the TV slowly moves back to a particular point, and then she hits play again. The lines etched into her brow, the thin line her lips are pulled into, and even the downward slope of the corners of her mouth, give a hint at her mood. The camera pans around to look at the plasma television. On the screen, for the few moments that it plays is Graves. The sound is muted, but subtitles flash on and off the screen, revealing that she has been watching what Graves said about her over and over and over again.
Gypsy: Graves, I’m going to tell you something, about my mother that only one other person on the entire planet knows about her. Two years after I was born she met a man just like you. A psychotic, sociopathic, worthless piece of humanity. He stalked our clan for an entire year, and only my mother ever knew he was there. He stalked us, and he stalked her in particular. One day, she walked a little farther out from camp than she normally did, just to bait him into coming over to her. And, he fell for it hook, line, and sinker. He followed her deep into the woods, and when he caught up with her, he told her to strip. She refused, and he struck her. He told her to suck him off. She refused, and he struck her again. He told her that if she didn’t do what he said he would kill her, and then he would drag her corpse back to camp, and kill me in front of the entire clan. So, she stripped, and he took one step towards her before she buried an eight inch, hand made, serrated, hunting knife to the hilt. In his forehead. She split his skull open, with the force of the blow. Then she removed his manhood, embalmed them, and gave them to my father, as a Christmas gift the following year. She told him what had happened, and he smiled at her strength. He congratulated her on how well she handled the situation. And, he loved her even more for it. Too, this day, that psychos testicles remain on my father’s mantel, as a reminder of the strength of my mother, and as an inspiration to his daughter.
She hit the stop button on the remote, and clicked over to the main menu. The young woman looked over at the small nightstand beside her, and picked up the Dr. Pepper setting on it. After a long swig she looked back to the camera.
Gypsy: And, Graves if I really didn’t want to face you in the ring I could eliminate you from the match with one simple phone call. Just one little phone call to the police and you would be dragged kicking and screaming away from the arena, before you ever got in the ring with me. Do you want to know why? Well, I’ll tell you whether you want me to or not. It’s because you threatened to rape a seventeen year old girl on national television. Yeah, Graves, maybe you should do just a little more research on your opponents before you go off and decide to threaten to rape them. Because, you just gave me all the evidence I need to put you behind bars for the rest of your short life. But, I’m not going to. Do you know why? Because, like my mother, I don’t need the help of others to deal with my problems. I don’t need my manager. I don’t need the cops. And, I don’t need my father! So, when we climb into that ring I am going to prove something to myself and myself only. I’m going to prove that I’m just as strong as my mother.
The teenager pointed the remote back at the television, before taking another swig of the cold Dr. Pepper. She scrolled through the main menu. Found the other set of recordings, and started the first of Kyle Neverwinter. She fast forwarded through to the last part of it. Listened to him talk about Fate for a while, and then rewound it back to the point where he talked about her. She let out a low growl at what he said. She had realized that he didn’t even mention her by name.
Gypsy: Kyle Neverwinter, you have disrespected me. You chose not to call me by my name, and refer to me as just a female. Well, my friend that was a big mistake. I’m not just a female. I’m not just a woman. I am a person, and I have a name. It’s Gypsy, and just like Reggie Starr, I will pick you apart in that ring. I will bring you down, and I will humiliate you even more than you humiliated Lance Erikson. And, I have two tiny little pieces of advice. First, forget your scruples, and treat me like a wrestler. Give me a great match, because, I’m no different than any other person in that ring. I might be smaller, but that just means I’m quicker. I might be shorter, but that just means that it will be easier to duck under your lumbering swings. And, I might weigh less, but that really means nothing. Even at a hundred and ten pounds, it will still feel like three hundred plus when my feet hit you from the top rope. So, just remember that I am a wrestler, not just a FEMALE. And, for the second piece of advice. Don’t trust too much to fate. If you didn’t realize, this is the type of match that makes HISTORY. It is a shot for a WOMAN to get the AAA medallion. That basically means that if I win, I will become the number one contender for every title in Power On Wrestling. This is the type of chance that Fate can’t pass up. So, be wary of where you place your trust.
Gypsy smiles at the camera, before completely stopping the recording of Kyle’s first promo. A light began blinking on the television screen. Indicating that the digital video recorder had started to tape something. Gypsy shifted out of the menu, and went to the main screen to watch what was going on. She saw it was another of Kyle Neverwinter’s promos, and watched it. Calmly. The scene faded to black, and another frown had appeared on Gypsy’s face.
Gypsy: Kyle, you continue to disrespect me. You’re just making this match harder for yourself. Now, I have to humiliate you. I have to do to you, what I did to Reggie Starr. But, the funny thing is, Reggie Starr still respected me more than you. He might have called me a guy in his promos, but at least he didn’t act like I wasn’t in the match at all. You will pay for that.
The tan skinned young woman calmed down, and went back to another of the recorded promos. This one was done by none other than her recent tag team partner, Scott Lanegan. She watched it, and then moved on to the other promo. It was a short, strange, and barely fit for TV promotion done by Flap Flanagan.
Gypsy: Now, there are two wrestlers that I actually respect. Flap Flanagan said that I would be the biggest challenge in this match, and he is right. I will go out there and just fight. I will not try to please the crowd. I won’t try to impress the other wrestlers with neat moves. And, believe it or not, I don’t actually plan on winning the match. I plan on just simply going out there and wrestling to the best of my ability. Like I said earlier, the only person I have anything to prove to is myself, and I am positive that I will do that no matter how far in the match I get.
Scott Lanegan, you were my tag team partner against Rite of Chaos, and from a little interference, we beat them. The tag team champs. That’s an accomplishment in its own right. But, now we are enemies. We’re going to face each other in a ring with six other people surrounding us, and I just want to say one thing to you. Good luck.
Gypsy turns off the television and looks to the small laptop lying beside her.
Gypsy: Now, the card says there are three other wrestlers in this match. Eddie Jones, Kaleb Shadix, and Night. Night is the person who used to own the AAA, but he must have forgot about it, or just didn’t care about it, because if he did, then it wouldn’t be up for grabs in this match. So, really Night, it’s your own fault that you still don’t have your medallion. Are you going to succeed in reclaiming it? I really doubt that. Even if you’re the largest man in this ring, you’re still going to fall. Why, do you ask? Simple really, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Now, Kaleb Shadix, you haven’t said anything yet, and that actually surprises me. When you faced Scott you were so full of that immature f-word. Then when you faced Rich you had even more to say, but it really just sounded the same. Eff this, eff that, eff all this stuff. Now, I actually know ten year olds who wouldn’t ever say that. But, I do know a couple of two year olds who would use it. Finally, is Eddie Jones. And, if I remember correctly, you were supposed to be in a Television Title match, this week at Legendaria, but there’s no TV title up for grabs in this match. Unless you want to count the one that Kaleb is still trying to imagine around his waist, but I don’t think you will. So, what’s not a title, but almost as good? The AAA medallion, and why would you need that? To be sure that just incase, the higher ups in POW “forget” about your number one contendership for the Television Title, you can still get a shot at any title.
The scene faded to black as the camera moved away from the young woman.
