The scene opens with Big Ci sat in his locker room at the Ameristar Casino. He is changing into his ring gear, rather than out of it like last time. Unlike the last time he was on camera he is actively engaging the audience, rather than just being listened in on. He is in most of his gear and he is pulling up his knee pad. He begins to speak.
Big Ci: With only a little bit of time left before I wrestle Mr Showtime this week on the Road to Reckless Abandon, I thought I’d take a little bit of time to formally address a couple of things in regards to this match. I know that my comments to Greg Kilgreen have been heard by my opponent and I know that he has been laughing. Now Mr Showtime I don’t know what exactly you were laughing at. Whether it was something I said that you found funny or otherwise, I was deadly serious. I do intend on walking into the Star Pavilion and beating you before walking out still the Valor Champion.
But I do look forward to our match. I look forward to wrestling such an extraordinary talent like Mr Showtime. Now I won’t sit here and tell you that Mr Showtime doesn’t pose a serious threat to the safety of my championship, because he does. Mr Showtime is a former Tag Team Champion, a former Television Champion, a former Insane Champion… and what is more he is a completely different type of opponent from those I have defended championships against. I have faced the psychotic in the Shadows and Jesters of the world; I have faced the grizzled and the angry in George Duke. But in Mr Showtime I face a different kind of opponent. Now whilst Mr Showtime is like all the others in a lot of ways… his ego, his lust for gold… it is his will to compete that makes him so dangerous. He is not in this fight to hurt me, he is not in this fight to end my career… his only goal is to take my belt. As of late, such an aim has been a rarity for me. George Duke was interested more in hurting me… Lance Erikson was more interested with hurting me… but Mr Showtime wants to beat me.
However, whilst Mr Showtime is looking to beat me… he won’t… he can’t… because for all the uncertainty in POW, throughout the change in ownership of POW… throughout the rise and fall of the Royal Flush… through all the upheaval and the comings and goings of wrestlers and talent in POW… one thing has remained constant… me and this championship. I lost it just the once and it will be a long, long time before I lose it again. Mr Showtime you are good but his week I will prove that, regardless of the frame of mind you are in, I am that little bit better. It will be a hard slog but in the end the one standing tall will b…
There is a knock at the door. Big Ci looks up from applying his wrist tape, a task he began a few moments earlier, having competed taping his first wrist.
Come in
The door opens and through it steps a grizzled old ring veteran in the form of Big Ci’s uncle and former tag team partner Bossman Burton walks into view. Uncharacteristically he is wearing a suit and he is visibly uncomfortable about it. He walks into the room and Ci continues to tap up his wrists. Big Ci finishes finally and stands up. Bossman throws off his jacket and drapes it over a chair. Ci talks to him.
Oh great you’re here. What time is the signing?
Bossman Burton: Not until 4.30. I thought I wouldn’t have to hang around that long but he put the meeting back. I think he’s playing with us.
No… he’s playing with me. ‘He’s Flush remember. But it’s OK. He’s a business man. He knows that it’s in his best interests to go with the deal. So what are you going to do up until then?
I dunno. What are you up to?
I’m off to train with one of the guys
Need any help?
Ci contemplates. He reaches inside his kit bag and roots around. He pulls out a striped referee’s shirt. He tosses it to his uncle.
Put that on… you can ref
Bossman looks perplexed
Since when were you a zebra?
Bossman begins to un button his shirt as Ci pulls on his elbow pad
I always carry a referee’s shirt. You never know when you might need a referee.
Isn’t err… Mr Showtime refereeing this week?
Bossman pulls on the referee’s shirt as he puts his shirt with his jacket on the chair as Ci pulls on his elbow pad.
Yeah why?
Ci and Bossman walk to the door and exit the room as the camera follows them. They proceed down the corridor.
Just wondering. Isn’t he refereeing a match between two guys from his faction?
Yeah… Rite of Chaos are wrestling for the TV championship.
So he’s got a warring faction to deal with as well as having to wrestle you. You might be able to use that to your advantage.
No… he’s focussed… really focussed. I think he’s the most ready out of any of the opponents I’ve faced in a long time. He just got out of a big thing with Shadow and…
Bossman cuts him off
What d’you mean? Is he here? Like in the building?
No… he doesn’t show his face around here except for his matches. Which is lucky for him today.
Good… I hate that prick you know. He makes my blood boil.
Forget him… he can’t hurt us anymore. I’m finished with him now. He’s nearly finished himself… Showtime saw to that. Now he’s actually trying to make Showtime sign a document saying he won’t wrestle him anymore. He won’t interfere in his affairs. The pussy’s scared of him. I hope Showtime signs it. He doesn’t need the hassle of Shadow anymore. But yeah just leave him. He’s not worth it and he’s not here anyway
They continue down the corridor and eventually make it to a silent Gorilla position with the exception of the voice of a man.
Voice: Oh you’re here
Yeah man sorry we’re a bit late. Got a bit delayed.
Hey Will
Will: Hey boss
The three men now step through the curtain and head out into a silent Star Pavilion
The scene fades out
The scene fades back in and the practice match is in full flow. Ci has Will in a hammerlock. Will tries to reach of Ci’s ankle but Ci backs away. Will reverses the hold half way and hook the closest leg, hoisting Ci up and drilling him with a modified Angle slam. He covers Ci. Bossman drops down and counts.

Kick out!
Will stands up and signals for a submission. He grabs the leg and applies an Ankle lock. He clamps on the hold and Ci writhes in pain. Ci forces his torso off the ground with both arms and rolls through sending Will flying, chest first, into the corner. Ci is up quick and runs the ropes before attempting a hard Lariat. Will ducks the moves and Ci staggers after missing. He turns and is caught with a superkick. He falls to the floor. Will covers again. Bossman counts.

Thre… NO!!!
Ci gets his shoulder up again. Will lets out a shout of disbelief before getting back to his task. He measures Ci for another superkick. Ci turns around and Will lunges with his leg stretched high. Ci, though, catches his leg, mere centimetres from his face. He trips Wills other leg and lands a couple of kicks to the inside of the knee and wrenches the leg in an effort to weaken it. He then applies the spinning toe old, followed by barring the other leg and sinking in the Figure Four Leglock. Ci applies pressure and raises his body up on his hands. He shakes his body with as much force as he can in an effort to force the submission. He then starts to throw his body back and pulls on Wills legs as hard as he can until will can do nothing but submit. Ci releases the hold and helps will to his feet. They shake hands.
You kick harder these days
They laugh
Yeah... but not as hard as Showtime will. Good luck this week.
Thanks
Ci holds the ropes open for him to exit. He then turns to Bossman.
Right… meeting time
The scene fades out as they exit the ring.
