Weekly Role Play #1

So it wasn’t he personally who pinned the “World” champion last week, but the job was still done. Reck Maverick lay on top of Kailus Holmes as the referee performed the three count, and John felt an ounce of success regardless. That nagging feeling that he was out of place still bothered him, as did his recurring headaches, but there was a light at the end of the tunnel… there had to be. He wasn’t sure if that light was Great Britain, or if it was changing into some other opportunity, but there WAS a light he was chasing after, and John Anthony is a man who chases after what he desires 120%.
Just not today.
Doctor:
“Well Ms. Sven, I’ve gone over the results and I’m afraid I have some bad news for you. It might be best for you to have a seat.”
Julia took a seat in the waiting room as Dr. Mickelson sat beside her. They were within a small medical facility located in Kansas City and John Anthony lay in a hospital bed in one of the patient rooms. She wasn’t sure what was wrong, but last night John’s headaches came to a peak that sent him reeling in delusions and hallucinations. Not knowing what to do, she rushed John to the nearest hospital, and now here she sat, about to hear the results of the testing.
Doctor Mickelson:
“It seems as though Mr. Anthony is suffering from a form of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder that we call PKSD.”
Julia sat there with a quizzical expression, not knowing what PKSD was.
Doctor Mickelson:
“PKSD, or Post-Kansas Stress Disorder, is a rare occurrence with extremely debilitating effects. John’s transfer from the bustling cityscapes of New Jersey and a life filled with every material possession he could ask to a motel room home and only scarce luxuries is leaving its mark. I’m worried that if we don’t take care of Mr. Anthony’s situation, then we could be looking at much more severe effects than headaches and hallucinations. I’m talking a complete loss of his own self awareness... ultimately leading to death.”
Julia:
“You mean this is potentially fatal?!”
Doctor Mickelson:
“I mean this IS fatal. Mr. Anthony is in extreme danger. Kansas is not a friendly atmosphere, and living here is not recommended to any human being. Hell, I’d sell this entire facility for a five-dollar bill and pack my bags if I wasn’t contracted here. You see, that’s how they trap us intelligent beings in this God-forsaken land, they offer us huge signing bonuses without warning us of the dangers. Once we’re signed to reside and work in this location for a given number of years, we begin to see the true side of Kansas. I’ve seen patients come in with life-threatening forms of boredom, loneliness, and PKSD.”
Julia:
“Is there a cure?”
Doctor Mickelson:
“Luckily, we caught this early enough to save Mr. Anthony’s life. I would recommend getting him out of the area as soon as possible, and for as long as possible. If moving back to the Northeast is not an option, then I would recommend leaving the country altogether. PKSD is not something to toy with, and the mental scarring could be permanent. This is like being on the front lines of a battlefield and seeing every one of your fellow soldiers die in your arms, yet you survived… except multiply that by ten.”
Julia’s skepticism took control at that last comment.
Julia:
“Are you even a real doctor? Because this is beginning to sound like bogus.”
Doctor Mickelson:
“No… I’m not, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.”
The tears forming in Julia’s eyes from the reports of John being in a potentially fatal position quickly dried as the red hot rage quickly building began flaring inside of her. She stood up abruptly and looked down at the phony doctor who had toyed with her emotions and prepared to land an unholy beat down on him. Before she could, John Anthony emerged from the hallway straightening his tie as he strutted down the hallway. Julia turned to see him in perfect shape, and rushed towards him, embracing him tightly on contact.
John:
“Did I miss something?”
Julia:
“That bastard over there tried to convince me that you were dying of PKSD! I was so worried I was about to lose you John!”
John:
“What the hell is PKSD?”
John looked over to find the “doctor” who had made these claims, but there was no one in sight.
John:
“The doctors told me that my headaches were due to sinus pressure build up. They said my sinuses are used to the weather in the northeast, and the change in air caused some blockage that was giving me migraines. They gave me a prescription and said I should adapt soon enough. Their recommendations were just to be happy, try to enjoy myself here in Kansas, and take a pill every night before bedtime.”
Julia:
“So you aren’t mentally scarred for life, suffering from PKSD, or potentially dying?”
John:
“Umm, not as far as I can tell. Anyway, we’ve got work to do. I’m hot off of my victory with Reck Maverick over the World Champion of Power On Wrestling, and now I get to team up with Buddy Love! I’m actually in pretty high spirits about this weekend and think we could be looking at an excellent matchup. Problem is, I’m a bit out of shape after my head troubles, so I need to hit the gym and get back on track. It’s time for the good ol’ John Anthony to get things rolling again, and for that I need your help.”
Julia:
“Anything… you name it.”
John:
“Call Calvin Ayre and tell him I need two things: A penthouse suite, and a new car. I can take care of the rest.”
Julia:
“Wait, are you staying here in Kansas?”
John:
“Didn’t you hear? Nitro announced that at Reckless Abandon, Reck Maverick and I will be in a Title Unification match to merge our heavyweight championships into one National Heavyweight Championship. Our titles already have more prestige and promise than that silly belt Kailus holds, so can you even begin to imagine the limelight that will be acquired by he who carries the National Heavyweight Championship? This is the opportunity of opportunities! I’m not going anywhere until I get my name bolted onto that belt, so I need proper accommodations. That Best Western hotel is hardly suitable for someone like me, or any human being for that matter. So give Calvin a call, set up the logistics, and get ready. The High Life is back, and we’re about to find out just what Kansas City has to offer. Then, at Reckless Abandon, we’ll be witness to the next chapter in Power On Wrestling history: The Birth of the National Heavyweight Championship.
