"I Don't Wanna Be" begins to play over the PA system in the packed POW arena as Josh Eagles prepares to make his way onto the ramp to make the first public address any of the participants in the Main Event of Reckless Abandon have attempted. The crowd is all cheers and no boo's for the POW World Champion as he makes his way through the curtains and onto the ramp with a mic in his hand.
Josh is wearing his street clothes, a little different from normal, a pair of black jeans, a blue shirt and a thin jean material over shirt, his hair pulled back into a pony tail and covered by a baseball cap. Josh has the POW World Title strapped around his waste over his clothes and has the same usual smile except that he does not today make his way to the ring, but instead stands at the top of the ramp.
Josh Eagles: I know that right now I should make my way down this ramp, roll into that ring, unstrap this title belt, hold it high in the air and celebrate winning it with every single one of my devoted POW fans... but that is not something I can do today!
Crowd: WHAT!?
Josh Eagles: You see the fact of the matter is, I don't feet that I yet deserve to be in that ring, representing the POW and it's fans as a champion!
Crowd: What!?
Josh Eagles: Lately in the back there has been a rumor going around that this whole good guy thing is just a phase for me! Now while I would like to squash that rumor and tell them to look at what I have done and how they could say that... well they have and they are right! So far since returning to the POW I can't figure out one thing that I have done that didn't have a selfish motive behind it.
Now I didn't mean to do it, I wanted to return to the ring and fight for the people, for each and everyone of you and that is what I thought I was doing, but now I feel I was wrong. So far the only things that I have shown that are driving me was a thirst for vengence against Kailus Holmes and a quest to become World Champion!
That is not what I thought I was doing though. I thought I was fighting the good fight and taking the title that should mean everything to a champion off someone who didn't care about it or the people but only the glory and instead placing it on myself who was ready to do anything to represent the honor of the POW and it's fans! So now I wear this belt and I feel no better then Kailus Holmes himself.
A lot of booing errupts from the crowd, not because they agree with Josh, but because they are mad at his lack of faith in himself to represent them as champion. But not all the crowd is in on it, in fact only about 1/3 of the crowd is... with a match containing Reck Maverick and John Anthony as well it can hardly be doubted that the crowd would be split in so many different ways.
Josh Eagles: So I had to think to myself, what can I do to change things? What can be done to make it better and then it hit me! This match, this 3-Way with Maverick and Anthony... I no longer have any motives but to be the one to represent the POW, I have no more motives then but to be your champion, the champion of the people!! So this 3-way match is my blessing my salvation, my chance to make up for my past wrongs and prove myself once and for all and that is what I am going to do!
The past few weeks have been hard but they have prepared me for this moment! Everyone has seen how far I will take my body to win the match and I am sorry to say that I can't say the same about either opponent! I respect both John and Reck but I know in my heart that I want it more then either of them, I want to be your champion more then anything in this world.
John Anthony... you are a great competitor and a lot of people have said competing in the Midwest is not a place where you belong, yet every week you have come out and given us the best match you could give and fought hard. But I never felt your heart in it... your heart yearns for a company and a fan base that is no more... we are now in the MIDWEST and this is where you will have to learn to be and I don't think it's your time to rise yet.
We fought less then a month ago John and you showed me mercy and compassion toward an injury that I had even when I begged you not to... that is something I respect and something I will never forget, but even with that injury I still managed to best you, I still managed to get the win, but a win that I don't want. I technically won by disqualification and I don't want the same thing to happen again.
This time around we will fight and both be able to put everything we have into it and the best man will win, there will be no excuses, no cop outs, but champion vs champion vs champion with everything on the line in a match of the ages, pure competition and entertainment at it's finest!
The crowd begins to get a little louder, but this time with cheers.
Josh Eagles: Then there is Reck Maverick and I don't want to come off sounds like an ass or anything but I have to ask after I have spent all week beating myself up over this... but do you deserve this RECK?
This now sends the entire arena into boo's and cat calls... no matter how much you are liked insulting Reck Maverick or taking away from his credibility never gets you far. Josh raises his hand as if to concede.
Josh Eagles: I only ask this because you once told me that to be a champion you have to give yourself up 100% and I don't think you are ready to do that yet! A rumor has been running around that you don't care about this title about this match with everything that is going on in your life right now... but this match isn't about the title it's about the people! This isn't your battle of good vs evil even though you like to pretend that I am evil still.
Reck this match is good vs good vs good, this match is to determine who wants to be champion bad enough! I am sorry for what is happening with Jayde... I am! I am sorry for your lack of faith in me, but you are choosing to face the world alone when there are many people willing to stand beside you and fight with you! How can a champion choose to ignore everyone else and fight only for themselves... isn't that what you have so many times cautioned me against?
Reck I lost my child and now my wife for walking the path you are now heading down and I don't expect you or anyone else to have sympathy for me... I made my choices and my mistakes but that doesn't mean you have to as well! I know that my life has been full of bad choices but at least I am man enough to say I was wrong and fight for something better which is what I am going to do when Reckless Abandon rolls around and the three of us step into the ring and only one of us can leave with it all.
This match has no outside factors but the people that surround the ring to watch it, the other wrestlers in the back who will look to us for leadership, for representation and I will not let that be stepped on by being selfish, by being an arrogant fool and that Reck Maverick is what you are being. So I say fight your battle now because when the war comes around you are already losing by turning your back on allies and friends like I once did... you are never alone unless you choose to be and the war will come at Reckless Abandon and only one person will walk out champion. Josh Eagles, Reck Maverick, John Anthony... three men with one goal... who is it going to be?
"I Don't Wanna Be" plays again as Josh exits.
