The last few battles have had taken their toll on our hero - The Atomic Ninja Reck Maverick... The War against the Green Ranger, The brutal beating of Night two weeks ago, the triple threat match and the most recent battle against UWL's "Champion" Shawn Stevens... all violent, all destructive... but no battle has been harder than the battle that Maverick has been battling within himself... Testing himself, pushing himself to new limits... not for gold, or fame or any of that garbage - no, this fight is purely for himself to see if he has TRULY changed from the days of old... From when Reck Maverick cared for nothing but himself, he stab anyone in the back to further his own agenda... no friends, no allies... No one to betray him...
Since then, he has let several people into his life... into his heart... but the true challenge is when it goes south can he trust them? That a tale for another day, a day he hopes will not come.
In the meantime Reid Flanagan - the eccentric alter-ego of The Star of the Show is laying passed out in a bed deep in the hidden chambers of his new Chicago based Lair...
Kitsune - aka Jayde Nightwood just now returns from a round of ninja survailence... at this point the duo are still not 100% sure of the evil that are present in this city... They know the streets of San Jose California like the back of their hands and they were quick to grasp the lay of the land of Kansas City... but Chicago... Chicago... WHO THE HELL EVER TALKS ABOUT CHICAGO! Anyway she notices Reid sleeping in the bed and a grin comes under her mask as she "powers down" to her normal civilian clothes. She walks across the roof and lays down beside him... propping herself up on a elbow she dances her fingertips across his chest. The slight touch of fingers causes Reid to stir. He looks at her with his eyes still full of sleep and he smiles faintly.
Reid - hey...
Jayde - Hi.
Reid reaches up and rubs his eyes. he then shakes his head a little.
Reid - What's wrong?
Jayde just smiles.
Jayde - Nothing... just admiring you.
Reid chuckles a bit.
Reid - I never saw myself as the type to be "admired." Usually I'm the one that people yell and throw things at... like last week.
A spark of concern suddenly fills Jayde's eyes.
Jayde - What? What happened?!
Reid - Well some of the great Chi-town "Fans" weren't to happy that I beat their boy Shawn so quickly... they tried to start some crap after the show.
Jayde - Oh my God! Are you okay? Did anyone get hurt? Damn, I should have been there... I had so post-show interviews to do...
Reid - Jayde! It's okay, calm down - everything is okay. I actually found a practical application for the Ninja Vanish technique. Everything is cool.
Jayde - Really?
Reid - Yes... It's golden. Come here...
Jayde lays her head down on his chest and he puts his arm around her.
Reid - Do you think that after all that we have been through the last couple months that a group of drunken misfits that take wrestling too seriously is going to put me down.
Jayde smiles a bit now that her mind is comforted.
Jayde - Right... of course...
Reid - But it did open my eyes though... I don't think I'm going to be excepted with open arms here in Chicago.
Jayde - Why?
Reid - Even since the Chi-Town Rumble in 89 when Ricky Steamboat beat Ric Flair for the World Title Chicago has been a real stuck up bunch of assholes. I know damn well that they aren't going to accept me and they are going to think that everything that I am is a gimmick... just like it was in the Kansas City... It took me 8 months to prove myself over there.
Now Nitro packs up and moves to Chicago to for his own reasons and I have to start over again... It's not going to be fun the next couple weeks - that's for sure... Maybe... If they are going to hate me anyway... give them a REAL reason to hate me.
Jayde lifts her head off Reid's chest and looks him dead in the eye.
Jayde - Reid no! Look you know that I will support you no matter what you do but don't sell yourself out because of a bunch of assholes that think that they are the mecca of wrestling fans because they had one good event nearly 2 decades ago. You've come so far, accomplished so much - you're a role model... a star of you own Saturday morning cartoon! don't throw that away... The world needs a hero... There aren't many left but you're one of them. If they boo because you are yourself... to hell with them. Let them cheer for the other guys, the guys that just in this for the money, or the fame. If they really do care for this business, and everything that is good in this world... They will support you. Wrestling fans might be jaded - pardon the pun - but they will recognize the real thing when they see it... Just continue to do everything you can and they will eventually see the right thing.
Reid sits up in the bed and he sees the look in her eyes... begging, pleading him not betray the trust of the people that believe in him. He smiles and nods.
Reid - Right... While some people won't ever "get me" and will probably never will... There are hundreds... dare I say thousands more that believe in me... IN ME, maybe not as a wrestler but as hero. What right do I have to betray them like that! If it wasn't for their support... or your support... I wouldn't be here today. I wouldn't be the Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion... I would not have wiped the floor with "The best" of the UWL. The best thing for me to do is to forget the negative and focus on the positive...
Jayde rises up to a kneeling position and smiles.
Jayde - Yes! That's it! That's what I've been trying to convince you of this entire time.
Jayde throws her arms around Reid and he returns the embrace.
Jayde - You got it.
Reid - Thank you...
The just continue to embrace as this episode end.
To Be Continued...
