Dan Savage is backstage walking with his ring gear on. He stretches his arms out a bit as he continues to walk. A few more seconds pass and he sees Dan Harvey sitting in the locker room with the door wide open. He hesitates and looks as if he wants to enter, but decides not to and he continues walking. Suddenly Greg Killgreen walks up and he catches Dan by surprise.
Greg Killgreen “Oh, sorry Dan, did I scare you?”
Dan Savage: “No not at all Greg. What’s up?”?”
Greg Killgreen: “Nothin, just looking for you actually. Mind if I get an interview?”
Dan Savage: “Of course not Greg, shoot.”
Greg Killgreen: “Well I think a lot of the fans want to know, where were you last week?”
Dan Savage “Well not that if it’s any concern really Greg, but I had a family issue to deal with. I wrote it in my blog, didn’t you see it? Ah don’t answer, I already know. Yeah, I guess now would be a good time to apologize to the fans. I dropped the ball, but Greg I promise you and all of them that Dan Savage won’t ever no-show again.”
Greg Killgreen: “That’s good, so what about your match tonight with Dan Harvey?”
Dan Savage: “I don’t know what to think in all honesty. I’ve never wrestled him before, but I’m expecting a great match. Will I win? Of course I will. I made a promise to become the top dog here in POW, I told everybody that Dan Savage would become legendary. I guess this is really the chance to prove that to everyone. Tonight at No Fear I will show no fear and beat Dan Harvey one-two-three.”
Greg Killgreen: “Speaking of fear Dan, there’s rumors going around that you often display fear in private. Actually, the rumor is that… well Dan you’re a nut job. Care to elaborate.”
Dan doesn’t respond this time and he stares a hole into Greg. His breathing begins to hasten and he starts shaking. Dan lowers his head and appears to be fighting some kind of urge. He looks back up at Greg who holds the microphone to Dan.
Dan Savage: “..sorry I have to go.”
Greg calls after as Dan dashes away. Greg doesn’t pursue and Dan slows his dash into a mad, trance-like walk. He opens a few doors, looking for an empty room and eventually settles on the men’s bathroom. The room is empty, and Dan reels around, finally letting his emotions take control.
---Fear--- ”You’re not afraid? Kidding yourself just to seem normal, old habits die hard don’t they? You are afraid, it’s only natural. You have no friends, and you are unsure of what to do. Even now you run away from them to hide your shame. You’re alone, we are all you have. Ironic isn’t it that you fear us?”
---Pain--- ”Even as a boy, you were oh so scared. You had no friends to help you, and no one at your side.”
---Dan--- “All the kids would watch me, I felt so very scared. I could sense their hatred, I acted as if I didn’t care.”
---Fear--- ”You cannot hide from us. Soon you must learn to control your self-“
---Pain--- ”That’s the way you’ll get out of this hell!”
---Passion--- ”Give into Rage, and let it all go. Savor the moment, let your Aggression flow!
---Dan--- ”I’m not that way, vengeful or crude. I’ve always been the type to abide by the rules!”
---Pride--- ”When you face that guy tonight wipe that smile off his face!”
---Reason--- “There’s no sense, don’t act in haste.”
---Pride--- ”Well I don’t care, lets show him who’s boss!”
---Reason--- ”That’s not the way to get our message across!”
---Pride & Fear--- ”Be a man, give in to hate!”
---Reason & Pain--- “You’d better learn to communicate!”
---Pride--- ”Better to learn to protect yourself!”
---Reason--- ”That’s not the way to get out of this hell!”
---Passion--- ”You gotta prove your not like the rest!”
---Reason--- ”There’s no need when you know you’re the best!”
---Passion--- ”That’s not enough, let the other guys know!”
---Reason--- ”What’s the use? Go with the flow!”
---Pride, Fear & Passion--- ”Be a man, give in to hate!”
---Reason & Pain--- ”You’d better learn to communicate!”
---Pride--- “Better to learn to protect yourself!”
---Reason--- ”That’s not the way to escape this hell!”
---Passion--- ”Don’t feel your Pain, let it all go! Ignore Reason and let your hate flow!”
---Dan--- ”Yes…I will get back at them, show them who’s the man. Then one day I’ll prove, that I’m a man, and I will not quit.”
With his internal struggle finished Dan comes back to reality. He is breathing heavily from quite possibly his most intense inner-battle ever. Slowly Dan get’s up, “had anybody heard him?” he wondered. He opened the bathroom door right as Greg Killgreen was walking down the hall, presumably looking for Dan.
Greg Killgreen: “There you are Dan? Are you okay?”
Dan Savage: ”Yes Greg I’m fine, thanks for the concern. Let’s finish shall we. Tonight, I plan to beat the hell out of Dan Harvey. I’m going to beat him cleanly one-two-three and show the non-believers just why Dan Savage is the next big thing. I’m not a bad guy Greg, and Harvey will lose in the name of sportsmanship and of this great sport. Look out, because I plan to turn some heads tonight.”
Greg Killgreen: “Okay good to know, Dan Savage everybody!”
Dan smiles into the camera and brushes by Greg. Greg looks dead into the camera and gives it a funny look, most likely in response to Dan’s very erratic behavior.
Summary of Events
-------------------------
-Fear overcame Dan’s senses and denied Dan’s claims of showing “No Fear.” Pain intervenes and tells Dan that we was alone and afraid in the past and in the present, confirming Fear’s words. Passion surfaces and tells Dan to he needs to act out on his Fear; Dan denies this, and is thrust into a deeper struggle. Once more Pride and Reason surface and argue that Me shouldn’t take his aggression out on Dan Harvey. Fear sides with Pride, while Pain sides with Reason. Passion also intervenes once more, siding with Pride, and says Dan needs to do this to show everyone who’s boss, and ignore his Pain and Reason’s words. In the end Dan subjects to Pride’s motives and escapes his inner struggle, now with a task to complete in his match.
