Eddie Jones dominates the view of the camera as he stands by with Stephie Campbell, waiting to be interviewed for POW: New England. Eddie is wearing his usual attire consisting of a backwards baseball cap, a ragged pair of jeans, and a Buzzcocks t-shirt. He stands with his arms on his hips as the interview begins.
Stephie: Eddie Jones, we are coming off of Red, White and Bruised where you were not able to win the big 8 man match for a shot at the Openweight Title. This week, on The Road to Ocean City Slam, you have to face the new Mid-Atlantic Champion, Buddy Love. How do you feel coming into this week?
Eddie: This week is a big opportunity for me after last week’s disappointment. I had a chance at that Openweight Title, and I blew it. I couldn’t capitalize. But it wasn’t my fault, Steph, not at all. It was because of Buchalini, who dragged that damn hammer into the matchup, that I was not able to get the pinfall. If it wasn’t for that low-balling, two bit bastard, I would have had the match, and the title.
Stephie: Yes, but regardless of last week, you have Buddy Love this week. Wouldn’t a win this week reestablish you as a top threat in New England?
Eddie: Yes it would Steph. Buddy Love is the champion. And everyone loves to see a champion fall. Buddy Love might be the champion, but he won’t be walking out of this week with his dignity. Love can only do so much against me. Hell, I have a feeling that Buddy Lone Starr might not even be making his way to the arena on Sunday night.
Stephie: Umm, and why would he not show up?
Eddie: Because he’s scared of me. Because he’s scared to show up in the same ring as me. Because Buddy Love will make it to the Massachusetts border and realize that he can’t do it. And he’ll turn around and head back to California, or whatever hippie state he comes from. He’ll get that far and then Lone Starr will turn his Winnebago around and get the hell away from Maine as humanly possible. He won’t be able to face me in this ring.
Stephie: So you’re saying that Buddy Love is so scared of you, that he won’t even show up at the arena on Sunday?
Eddie: I’m not just saying it Steph, I’m guaranteeing it. Buddy Love won’t show and everyone will see the real cowardice that he is. They will see that he cannot face his biggest fears. And like everyone else, one of his biggest fears is failure. Failure ruins the lives of many. And for him to step into the ring with me, that, equals certain failure.
Stephie: You think that stepping into the ring with you is one of Buddy Love’s biggest fears?
Eddie: I’m the biggest damn thing he’s ever been close to, that’s for sure. He hangs out with some kind of midget and a bunch of floozy chicks. What does he know about fear? The most fear Buddy Love’s ever felt was when he saw the test results had arrived in the mail. He’ll learn the meaning of true fear this weekend. He’ll learn the meaning of fear when he gets close enough to Maine that he can smell it, but that he won’t be able to make it. He’ll realize fear when he decides that he can’t force himself to face me. That, is when he’ll face his first big fear. And that, is when he’ll become the biggest joke the fans of POW New England has ever seen.
Stephie: I still don't believe that you'd be Buddy Love's biggest fear.
Eddie: Maybe I'm not! Maybe he does fear an STD more than me. But I have a feeling, we'll find out otherwise this Sunday night.
Stephie: You seem confident that he won't show.
Eddie: That's because I know the minds of people like Buddy. I know that they don't want to step into the ring with a guy like me. I know they just wanna have fun. And that's not what I'm about. In the ring, I have a straight, gunning for the gold mentality. And that's the way champions are meant to be. The best were like that, and the best continue to be like that. And that is why I will take him out, whether he shows or not.
With that, Eddie Jones walks away to leave Stephie Campbell on her own.
