Restless tonight
Cause I wasted the light
Between both these times
I drew a really thin line
It’s nothing I planned
And not that I can
But you should be mine
Across that line
The scene is an empty arena. President Pliskin, in street clothes, is sitting in a chair, with his feet rested on the seat in front of him. One Thing by Finger Eleven is playing the background as the scene switches to Pliskin in front of a camera
Robert Pliskin In my life, I've seen people I known die. Friends in family. I still held on to my goal of becoming a wrestler, and I have. My father was my hero, but there was one idol of mine...
If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldn’t that be something
Robert Pliskin When my dad was working two jobs to get me and my sister food, I watched wrestling while she played with her dolls. I still remember gorwing up watching WCW, yeah, I liked the babyfaces, Diamond Dallas Page, Sting, The Harlem Heat, and the Four Horsemen. Not our version, heh. I remember, one guy of the horsemen stood out
I promise I might
Not walk on by
Maybe next time
But not this time
Robert Pliskin That guy's name was Chris Benoit. He was the first wrestler I remember I always loved in the ring. Yeah, Benoit may not be able to hold a promo, but he made up for it in the ring. I still remember his days with Dean Malenko, watching them mat wrestle all the time.
Even though I know
I don’t want to know
Yeah I guess I know
I just hate how it sounds
Robert Pliskin Benoit was my idol, everytime my dad was away, which was a lot, I felt comfort with Benoit....like he was my other dad. May sound weird to you, but to me it's normal. Benoit, he was...one of a kind
If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldn’t that be something
Robert Pliskin I wrestled as much as I could as a kid, wrestling in backyard feds and REALLY small indy feds that had like, 6 fans and 4 wrestlers. "It's worth it", I said to myself. "Everyone starts at the bottom and works their way to the top". "Maybe when I'm at the top, I'll meet Benoit".
If I traded it all
If I gave it all away for one thing
Just for one thing
If I sorted it out
If I knew all about this one thing
Wouldn’t that be something
Robert Pliskin That....never happened
Even though I know
I don’t want to know
Yeah I guess I know
I just hate how it sounds
Robert Pliskin When I heard the news, that my idol, Chris Benoit, was dead....I...I couldn't believe it. Chris Benoit, Man of Steel, dies so suddenly...
Even though I know
I don’t want to know
Yeah I guess I know
I just hate how it sounds
Robert Pliskin But life goes on, I guess. They say, he killed his wife and child. I don't believe it, I won't believe it. Maybe not...not until I find cold hard evidence. But...if I do...he's still my idol.
If I traded it all

Just for one thing

If I knew all about this one thing
