A small breeze flows through the building on every opening of the front doors, blowing through the corridors and those people that stand in its way until it reaches the centre heart of the building, the arena. The small breeze is pulled into the heart of the arena to mix with the cheers and clapping of hundreds of sporting fans and the thudding and fearsome sounds of an ancient battle song. The breeze combines itself with the sounds to echo them around the arena to a new level of volume as the small breeze plunges from the ceiling to flow up a small ramp and flutter the base of a long black cotton woven curtain.
The scene fades in from blackness as it so commonly has every week when conducting interviews. A long black cotton woven curtain flutters in the background as a small insignificant breeze forces itself past on it way towards freedom of the outside world, the logo printed on the surface of the curtain with it’s cream coloured fist in the centre is ripple across the surface. Standing before the curtain clearly in vision due to the contrast with the black curtain is the female interviewer that works with the Power On Wrestling’s New England branch, Stephie Campbell. Dressed in a pair of tight denim jeans and an ill fitting tight top Stephie Campbell shivers as the cold feeling of the small breeze which wins its battle with the black curtain and brakes through just a single boundary before it’s secured freedom of the outside world and continues to flow past the interview and down the further corridors. In spite of the slip in concentration when the cold breeze swiped over her Stephie Campbell is a great student of her media training and as quick as the slip in concentration had occurred she is again smiling and with a flick of her gleaming hair and the raising of her black microphone she begins to address whomever may now be watching.
Stephie Campbell: Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Stephie Campbell here at the 5/27/07 Road to Over in Dover wrestling presentation brought to you by Power On Wrestling and it’s New England branch. The mixture of instrumental music and the cheering of the crowd coming from beyond this curtain may have already given you the information to generate an idea of who my next guess may be, but unless you may not of yet have recognised the familiar battle song that is just as loved as my next guests wrestling abilities, then let me fill you in. Ladies and Gentlemen soon to walk through this curtain towards the celebration of yet another victory within the walls of an POW event is none other than the well known “Legion Soldier” Macros, in his company as always will be the self proclaimed “manager of champions” Riley. Hopefully before we are delivered with the company of these two men let me just fill you in on the so far history of the last couple of weeks.
Macros is coming of both a win over his former mentor Josh Eagles two weeks ago and of course the costly draw last week when Mick Cormac had decided to interrupt the match. I can now of course tell you that Macros was successful with his match here tonight at the 5/27/07 Road to Over in Dover, this victory gives macros a 2.0.1 match record within the world of POW New England and an 8.2.1 match record within both POW branches.
Stephie crumbles up a queue card that was present in here left hand giving her these match record details.
Stephie Campbell: There is no doubt that his overall POW record is nothing of a discredit to him, but of course many are saying that to secure him a better place upon the POW New England card and prepare for future championship opportunities he must better his current 2.0.1 wrestling record. With that said it is understood that Macros will be facing John Anthony at the next POW Road to Over in Dover presentation, a match against an opponent who has so far proven to be a tough competitor within the ranks of New England. Hopefully when we are given the chance to meet with the Legion Soldier and his manager we may get the chance to ask some questions relating to the match here tonight and what shall be done to prepare for the fight that John Anthony will be bringing to the table.
As if on queue a loud voice ranting can be heard exhilarating in volume as its level rises above the sound of both the crowd respectably clapping and the battle song echoing from the speakers. The voice continues to grow in volume as the owner’s footfalls eat up the path towards the black curtain and the current position of the POW interviewer and her crew. Finally the black curtain which separates the corridors and the wrestling arena beyond is yanked aside while being held by the owner of the extremely loud and ranting voice which had preceded his appearance. The manager known in the entirety of POW simply by his surname, Riley, is dressed tonight in a jet black suit with a luscious red tie illuminating from within the confines of the jacket. If the camera was to look down it would have tonight been glared by the reflections of light which danced upon the surface of his finely polished leather shoes. The man whom was well known for donating a large percentage of his time to the condition of his clothing and the way he is present in the eyes of others, had tonight dawned his latest of suits in which the remaining dollars of his POW pay checks over the last months had been spent upon. His current appearance and the addition of his clients yet another win was too much for his facial expressions of joy to be covered with a mask, the large and toothy grin which spread across the lower part of his face was just the sign of his current state of happiness.
As the manager hold aside the black curtain his client, Macros Vitruvious, walks through the gap into the small area already taken up by not only his manager but the interview crew. Small beads of sweat continue to fall from his bald head to creep down to entangle in his bushy eyebrows, created not by the low level of wrestling competition in which he had in the ring tonight but instead just a mix of the heavy and large lighting which were placed upon the ceiling above the wrestling ring. Macros holds the bronze lorica within the grasp of his left arm, the metal sending light dancing across his tanned chest, his red woollen tunic is rolled up within the armour safely tucked away from any harm which could come to it. Still in his ring attire of black wrestling shorts and the ever present legendary black glove snuggling his right hand, Macros comes to lean against the brick wall not entirely of interest with the women that so continuously bother him and his manager with interviews.
As his manager flicks the black curtain from his grasp and lets it flutter to the ground Macros could already see the lust for an interview within his pupils, like a fire the burning lust started to grow as the manager seemed to defy logic and enlarge his smile to a size which would normally conceded possible. Like the love for the people that filled the crowd the manager duplicated the size of that love when it came to the mere thought of an interview and a long conversation. Macros let out a slight sigh as his manager made his way into the cameras view beside the interviewer, the current location was cold and Macros new that it would be a while until he would get the chance to relax in a hot bath or in the confines of a restaurant devouring the spoils of his victory. With the grim thought Macros bends down and places his roman lorica upon the ground with all the attentions of retrieving his tunic to secure the little bit of comfort he could while waiting for his manager to finish.
Stephie Campbell: Finally from their apparent victory over Phillip Owen Weiss I have the pleasure to the company of Macros Vitruvious and his manager, Riley.
Riley: No, ya know that the pleasure is all mine Miss Campbell.
Formal as he is, Riley addresses the young POW interviewer as Miss.
Stephie Campbell: Undoubtedly by the look upon your face and the familiar theme music which have reached my ears it would seem that Macros was successful with his match tonight against Phillip Owen Weiss. Lucky of course some may say, it was whispered that your lack of preparation for tonight’s match would bring your downfall. It was said that you were treating Weiss as merely a warm up match. What do you think of these comments, is it a wise decision to continue to underestimate your opponents?
Riley places his hands together as if in pray, rubbing his palms together in utter delight at the chance to finally answers a question.
Riley: Whispers ya say, my dear Miss Campbell the men that do not have the guts to speak in a louder tone than that of a whisper are nothing to stand against my judgement. Scoundrels and deceivers the lot of them. They are happy that their highlight of the day is the reaction they achieve from these whispered rumours; believe such nonsense and their happiness just continues to grow. I admit that I had stated that the match between my client and Phillip Owen Weiss would be merely a warm up, but whether it is a warm up match or a championship opportunity I prepare my client to the fullest. We all know that in our recent stoop of unemployment I had let the training of my client, Appius Macros Vitruvious, lower to a standard in which I am today ashamed off. But none the less I have got us re-employed and vowed to never let his training lower in standard in the future, I vowed to never have to see him in the pathetic state he was within our span of unemployment. No despite the supposedly truth behind these rumours that people always believe, I along with the training team can vouch that we were fully prepared for the confrontation with Phillip Owen Weiss. But of course if ya Miss Campbell and any, whom may be witnessing this interview at the present time or within the near future have any doubts, then let the match itself be marked as evidence. Upon viewing the footage no man alive could doubt that my client was prepared, even Phillip Owen Weiss can no longer doubt the preparation and talents of my client after he was locked within the Vitruvious Claw.
Riley raises his right hand up to the level of the camera, mimicking the squeezing manoeuvre upon an invisible head, trying to recreate the dieing seconds of the match moments before.
Stephie Campbell: So Macros used his families Vitruvious Claw manoeuvre to finish off the match and gain the victory?
A look of pride replaces the lust of an interview within the eyes of the manager.
Riley: Ay he did do a marvellous job; ya know ya should really go back into the communication truck and ask them to run a highlight for ya because it was that damn good. From the opening bell my client, Appius Macros Vitruvious, busted out of the corner in frenzy all over Phillip Owen Weiss. Hammer locks. Wrist locks. Vitruvious Claw. What ever my client does he does it with a purpose, Phillip Owen Weiss is but another man that has come to realise what a competitor my client is. In fact I even dare to say that my client, Appius Macros Vitruvious, is soon to be braking through those last barriers towards the style and level of performance that ya could have seen before our unfortunate lack of employment. There will soon be no man, women or child that could stand in the way of my legion soldier as he progresses along his path to promotional immortality.
But of course Miss Campbell, I have always stated such, I have always been the man that has stood beside the legion soldier through the good and bad times training him for success. As the manager of the Legion Soldier I have had no doubts of his talents or the accomplishments in which he would secure within this industry. Time and time again I find myself sounding like a broken record, repeating such statements in which I have spoken of many times in the past trying to change the minds of the many doubters. But to what extent, these doubters or those rumour making scoundrels I spoke of before will always hold my client in low regards. Yet to their dislike my client will continue to do what he does best and continue to fight, continue to claim victory. Ya see Miss Campbell I have realised that no matter what or whom my client claims the victory upon, these doubters will continues to spin their webs of lies around the place. Ya must look past their lies and see the clear facts that my client is a talent above any else. My client, Appius Macros Vitruvious, has already left his mark on this promotion of POW leaving a pile of broken POW wrestlers behind his path of victory. But of course these wrestlers that he has claimed victory upon are not ya average men; I am talking about forces that stand tall within the POW and other promotions across the world. Josh Eagles, Victor Bloodmoon, Lance Erickson, Dave and Shane Hunter, Big Ci, Reck Maverick…in fact the entireties of POW Midwest’s largest stable, Four Horsemen XE, have fallen at the feet of my client in defeat. Ya see my client has even stood within the same ring as some of the more legendary competitors within the POW, not as enemies but as partners in competition and friendship, witnessing their wrestling abilities and taking what is learn from them into his own being.
Riley brakes of his conversation as he catches the sight of a stage crewman creeping into the side of the screen and handing a small queue card to the young POW interviewer. This is obviously a more important question that the owner of POW New England, Randal Lovejoy, would rather the two take this time to discuss. Stephie Campbell takes a quick look down at the small queue card before looking back at the manager.
Stephie Campbell: Well I as one can not see why people would doubt your client abilities, especially when you put it like that. But now Riley let us move on to the actual questions at hand, for I have the information here regarding your next match at the 6/3/07 Road to Over in Dover event. It has been placed upon the card the your client will be going one on one in singles competition with the undefeated POW New England competitor, John Anthony.
What are your thought upon your clients next competitor? Plus this would have to be an incredible victory opportunity for your client, with John Anthony being one of the men closest to challenging for the Eastern Heavyweight Championship.
Macros straightens what was a comfortable slouching stance, a thoughtful expression crosses his face as he try’s to put a face to the name of John Anthony. For a few moments he stands in open thought before he finally finds the face of John Anthony within his minds.
Riley: Yes John Anthony, slick haired man whom obviously holds my liking for self respect with your appearance…though of course his brand of clothing would give away the fact that he has a larger bank account than mine.
Riley raises his right hand up to the collar of his shirt adjusting it slightly around his red tie, as if his current appearance was lacking greatly the care he usually greeted it. Lowering his hand Riley continued.
Riley: It is nice to be named undefeated is it not? My client was once known as the Undefeated Legion Soldier, I once loved how that just seemed to roll off my tongue like second nature. But alas their comes a time when being undefeated gives the holder of that claim a certain cockiness and arrogance that encircles his every day of life, blinding him from the potential that others are showing around ya. It will be this blindness that will bring ya first defeat, a misjudgement in an opponent and by the end of the night ya will be brought down from the heavens that ya may drift upon now to dwell within ya sorrows of defeat. Ya see my client and I went through this period of thinking we are immortal. We took to looking too far into the future and concentrating on the final prize of a heavyweight Championship belt, when standing in the present day was a man named George Duke whom we believed would be a complete push-over towards victory. Alas we were foolish.
I have seen the same within ya John Anthony, the same arrogance and confidence as ya look to challenge for the Eastern Heavyweight Championship belt. Shall I warn ya of what the consequences shall be if ya ignore the presence of my legion soldier? The 6/3/07 Road to Over in Dover event shall secure ya first loss within the world of Power On Wrestling, just as it has with my client the word undefeated will slip from your name forever. My client, Appius Macros Vitruvious, will defeat ya come the following Road to Over in Dover event and by doing so take ya place on the path towards the Eastern Heavyweight Championship. No drunken, insane or rich man shall stand in my client’s way as he marches on towards the DVD Taping Over in Dover, no man shall deny my client another victory.
Appius Macros Vitruvious will soon stand tall and defiant over all those within Power on Wrestling: New England, as the Eastern Heavyweight Champion. Then shall he turn his sights upon the man whom currently stands defiant above every wrestler within the entirety of Power on Wrestling, Flying Diamond Cutter Man and is POW World Heavyweight Championship. My client’s name will soon be placed above all others within the Power on Wrestling, never shall he have to endure the boredom of wrestling a man with the credentials of Phillip Owen Weiss again.
Riley yells the last with the volume of a dictator addressing the world, telling every human being of how far they have come and the accomplishment which the future will hold. The manager grasps the palm of his right hand into an aggressive fist lifting it up as if to strike an invisible wall, the trademarks pose is all that is to be needed to conclude the interview. With his second trademark look of disgust across his face the manager is ready for business, turning on his heels to put his back to the camera the manager starts his walk to his locker room. The shimmer of a red tunic is all that is seen as the wrestler known simply as Macros follows the lead of his manager and exits the scene of the interview.
